- This is insane. Cuomo said he does not believe any NYPD officer has hit any peaceful protester with a baton. I know several journalists who have been hit by batons this week, much less peaceful protesters.
- It's called a subway. New York figured this out 115+ years ago.Replying to @ValaAfsharTunnels are the solution to traffic. You can have as many levels as you want. Usable tunnel depth far exceeds tallest buildings, so would work even for New York or Beijing.
- I am reminded of a transit rally in 2019 when then-BP Eric Adams said he rode the bus every day, and held up a MetroCard as evidence. It was a 2-trip MetroCard.I asked Mayor Adams if he would set an example and take the subway to work every day. He doesn’t answer directly but says he’s on the subway a lot and has to be realistic not idealistic.
- Mayor Eric Adams’ re-election campaign submitted faked and fraudulently obtained petition signatures in his effort to secure a spot on the November ballot as an independent candidate, a Gothamist investigation has found. w @DavidFBrand and @brigidbergin
- Cuomo demanded the subway be disinfected daily, and the MTA had to hire private contractors to get the job done. The company hired to clean Flatbush Ave station last night pays its employees like crap (~$18/hr). Six of the 12-person crew at the terminal walked off the job.
- MTA saved no money by closing overnight subway service, transit officials admit
- Comic Amy Schumer says on Instagram she voted for Cuomo. Her second cousin, Chuck Schumer, has so far declined to endorse anyone in the mayoral election.
- “This would absolutely be an end to the New York way of life.” MTA will propose a budget tomorrow that includes 9,000+ layoffs, 40% cuts to subway service and the elimination of entire bus routes. Agency needs $12B in COVID aid from Congress.
- NEW: Cuomo’s departure leads Port Authority staffers to demand agency halt his LaGuardia AirTrain plan
- Thinking about that time a year or two ago when Eric Adams during a news conference claimed he rides the bus every day and held up his MetroCard but it was a two-trip.
- The MTA has a $507 million contract with the company Transcore to install all the congestion pricing readers and run the tolling system. That's a lot of expensive street furniture that won't be used if Hochul makes good on her plan to delay the tolls.
- This afternoon Schumer did what the mayor, the governor and MTA officials have for months refused to do: He rode the bus with the Daily News.
