I'm proud to be part of NPR's yearly reading of the Declaration of Independence. But those words, at that time, did not apply to my family, my ancestors. The Emancipation Proclamation did. Today, we read the text on @MorningEdition. Thank you @nprkyoung.

Some professional news. (It's also personal news; I work too much.) After six fabulous years @NPR and almost 4 years @MorningEdition, I'm moving on to a new chapter. I will miss hundreds of people, all of whom are in my Slack rn. More on that/them later.

reflecting on the fact that @nprAudie is the reason I became an NPR host. "Tell them what you want," was her very direct advice. Looking forward with excitement to the next moves of a shining star. ⭐️

On my last day @MorningEdition & @UpFirst: THANK YOU to my colleagues-but-also-friends, to my *beloved*, co-hosts @rachelnpr, @NPRinskeep, & @AMartinezLA - whose DM's I will always be in, and to NPR listeners. We will all still be "radio friends" as one wisely put it.❤️📻🎙️

Interesting details in this @davidfolkenflik piece. After @lourdesgnavarro tweeted about Caliphate, NYT's Barbaro admonished her to demonstrate "restraint" and warned she was hurting the feelings of people at the newspaper. | npr.org/2020/12/24/949…

I'm heartbroken to be losing David as a co-host, but I'm so excited to see what he does next. And I have resolved to continue texting him every morning around 2AM to say what's up, so...
I find goodbyes hard. Especially this one. But after 16 years, I have decided to leave NPR at the end of 2020. I love the place and will sorely miss so many colleagues. I will always be a storyteller. And my adventures ahead involve other passions as well: 🏈 📖 🎙 🍷
