A DAY IN THE LIFE OF ABED SALAMA is out in paperback today, and with a striking new cover.
My thanks to all who have read and supported it.

At the al-Aqsa mosque, Palestinian youth gathered sponge rounds, tear gas canisters, and stun grenades that Israeli forces fired at them today and created a model of the Dome of the Rock. At the top, they wrote, لن تمروا -- "You will not pass."
For the first time in decades, Palestinians held a general strike throughout historic Palestine. At Damascus Gate in Jerusalem, peaceful protestors waving Palestinian flags and chanting for freedom were fired at with stun grenades and doused in shit-smelling liquid.

I was just told that I cannot speak at @UArkansas unless I sign a pledge that I will not boycott Israel or its occupation. I refused. A 2017 state law requires @UArkansas to impose this McCarthyist requirement. A reminder that the current effort to quash free speech is not new.
Ads for my book were pulled from @NPR & the @BBC. I told @guardian: "I’m quite sure that a book advocating for Israel would not have had its advertisements pulled...There's an atmosphere that is wholly intolerant of any expression of sympathy for Palestinians under occupation."
Thank you, Mark.
This war did not start this morning. It has been going on for decades.
Today's bloodshed is the tip of an iceberg: an iceberg of state violence and ethnic subjugation. Blood will continue to be spilled so long as we ignore the root causes.
I received a note today from @NathanThrall, journalist and author of “A Day In The Life of Abed Salama” that resonated deeply with me. I wanted to share his words as we all watch in horror what is unfolding between the Israeli Government and Hamas today. ⤵️
“It is horrific to
Excellent Adam Shatz in @LRB: "The belief that the best way of honouring the memory of those who died in Auschwitz is to condone the mass killing of Palestinians so that Israeli Jews can feel safe again is one of the great moral perversions of our time."
Deeply saddened by the loss of my colleague Belal Jadallah, a dedicated journalist and kind soul. He is the 43rd journalist killed in Gaza since October 7. This has been the deadliest month for journalists since @pressfreedom began collecting data more than three decades ago.
We are devastated to learn that our dear friend, media freedom defender Belal Jadallah from Norway’s longtime partner @PressHouseGaza, has been killed. We will continue to work to fulfill Belal’s dream of protection for all journalists everywhere. May his soul rest in peace
Compare and contrast.
Israeli Maj. Gen. (res.) Nimrod Sheffer: "The first stage was implemented, and Israel violated the second stage. We violated."
VS
The @nytimes: "Israel’s strikes followed weeks of fruitless negotiations to agree an extension to its truce with Hamas."
.@iamjohnoliver: Gazans "have been living under a suffocating blockade for 14 years. In Israel & the occupied Palestinian territories, Palestinians are essentially being governed by a form of apartheid, an assessment echoed by both international & Israeli human rights groups."
In an open letter now signed by thousands, leading Israeli intellectuals claimed that "Netanyahu isn't Israel - his government does not represent us!"
They're lying to themselves.

No country in Europe does more to stifle honest discussion of Israel/Palestine than Germany. It took five months for @Zeit to publish this interview. But it's finally out. Below, our exchange on Israeli apartheid and colonialism.
