- Yesterday I went into a well-known shoe retailer to get my 8yo daughter’s feet measured. The girl who served us asked if I was planning to buy shoes. I said ‘possibly’. She said ‘because SOME PEOPLE just come in for a free measure’. I said ‘oh’. She said ‘and it’s very ANNOYING.’
- Replying to @LauraPAuthorI said ‘oh’. She said ‘ESPECIALLY when we’re VERY BUSY.’ And I bought a £44 pair of shoes because I was scared of her.
- I am 42 and my mum just washed my hair over the sink because I had surgery yesterday and have to keep my dressings dry. And really, mothering never ends, does it?
- My 6yo came out of school, chose 12 books at the library, carried them home, asked if we had to go out again and then put her pyjamas on and started reading.
GIF - Me for 43 years: Could not care less about the royal family. Me since yesterday: Obsessed with where Kate Middleton is.
- I'm so baffled about @Tesco removing the plastic lid from hummus and replacing it with a flimsy plastic cover which requires me to now cover it with clingfilm or similar. How is that helping anyone?
- The day we brought our daughter home from the hospital, we took this photo of her. We’d nearly lost her. I was having chemo. My sister had had a massive stroke that morning. Now we take a photo of her on this chair every year on her birthday, which is today, and feel lucky.
- My daughter is eight today. We nearly lost her when she was born. I had breast cancer. This photo was taken the day we brought her home. My sister had had a massive stroke that morning. She was born into such chaos and I’m grateful for every birthday I get with her.
- It’s my mum’s funeral tomorrow. Next week I’ll make her chocolate and coffee cheesecake because it wouldn’t be Christmas without it. Recipe here in case you want to make it too (I don’t know whose recipe it was originally). I’d love to think of it brightening someone else’s day.
- Every year my mum bought me socks for Christmas. Last year, she died in December and when my dad asked me to go through her clothes and take anything I wanted, I took all her socks. So I still had socks from her for Christmas, in a way. Thanks for all the socks, Mum.
- Thread about an NHS hero: Yesterday I was in the town centre with my kids and saw a walk-in vaccination centre. Been meaning to get the kids jabbed but it's only just been 12 weeks since the 8yo had Covid, so was planning to do it in the holidays. But we were there, so why not?
- Research question: do you know what Tetris is and how old are you? Please don’t say what it is.
