- cw suicide I’ve seen some pretty fucked-up sociopathic shit in academia and yet…this may very well be the worst thing I’ve ever seen.
- Replying to @HeydonEmilyupdate: the post and account have since been deleted (giving me further reason to think this guy is for real)
- Replying to @caitlinmoriahumm has this guy ever heard of parthenogenesis. Or ferns. Or like tons of other stuff
- Replying to @Red_Blasteroh the replies from *other faculty* were all literally “you are responsible, you are a psychopath, go eat a bag of dicks”
- Replying to @HeydonEmilyupdate no. 2: apparently they posted an edit before they deleted the whole post. The text has been preserved in its original form on another subreddit. It is in fact a female prof. Basically she just doubled down. No self-reflection.
- I think this whole “autism self-dx doesn’t count” discourse is mired in this erroneous and outdated idea that autism is first and foremost a set of behavioral traits and not simply a greater number of synapses in the brain that results in a different user experience
- as someone with a ton of food allergies that make eating out v difficult: how dare you compare your oddly limited taste in food to requiring accommodations
- Replying to @ChareseTylerPretty common in philosophy, sadly. These predators get away with this sort of behavior for decades. Then, after it finally makes national news (and dozens of women have been harmed), they ACTUALLY get fired. The firing should happen a whole lot sooner.
- Replying to @brightblueorbohhhhhh yes. We’ve all had these conversations where the person in power -wastes time talking about nonsense rather than answering the question -literally contradicts themselves within the course of five minutes or less -when you ask for clarification, makes it all your fault
- Replying to @wizardsofautismno autism in my family but 3/4 children will only eat buttered noodles, not noodles w/ marinara; dad won’t eat any toppings on a burger besides cheese, and also won’t eat bread with seeds in it; & 5 members of the family agree there are only 3 acceptable brands of chicken nuggets
- Replying to @HeydonEmily and @laurenanconaThe autistic men in the room are “geniuses,” which means they’re allowed to rock back and forth in their chairs or literally bounce off the walls and it’s fine. But if I so much as open my mouth to say the obvious it’s because my autism is making me a “difficult woman.”
- Replying to @stavverseven my incredibly conservative Christian parents (20 years ago!) had me playing with gender-neutral legos, building blocks, those sharp metal sandbox dump trucks, bows and arrows, lightsabers, Lincoln logs, trains, matchbox cars, etc.
