Big MH implications. “stress associated with poverty will damage children’s brains, it will damage child development… impact on health inequalities will be seen, not just in this generation, but in the children in the next” ⁦@MichaelMarmot⁩ ⁦⁦

Very sad to hear of the passing of #AndrewSims - a giant in psychiatry. Past President @rcpsych. Professor of Psychiatry @UniversityLeeds. Stalwart of descriptive psychopathology. Still influencing psychiatrists today...thanks to @FemiMind

40% of MH problems arise before age 14, 75% before age 25. Treating CYP is highly effective - they don’t become adults with MH disability, who may not achieve their potential; may not become economically active. Adequate resource needed to Address The Treatment Gap. #12:112🤑.

Yesterday we finally said goodbye to my father. I learned my Dad helped 💯s of ppl over the years. Life-changing and saving stuff. Ppl packed into the church. He never told us, just got on with it. In his own quiet way, an activist. I have a legacy to live up to.

1/4 In 30 yrs working in psychiatry, I’ve not heard MH talked about so much…ever. Which is great. But this contrasts massively with what is actually being done centrally. Time to narrow the gap - no more inaction in the face of need.

Very sad today. RIP Dad. You taught me wisdom, kindness, scrupulous fairness. Thank you for passing on your principles and your strength, (and the work ethic…I think). I love you.

How easy it is for us to deny care…just a few choice words. We must focus less on rejecting, more on helping. ⁦@DrChloeBeale⁩ Thoughtful, thought-provoking, powerful. As always. ⁦@rcpsychEastern@rcpsych⁩ ⁦@Kallur_Suresh⁩ ⁦

Depression is life-changing and can be terminal. Fear of ADs may interfere with access to effective treatment. This is a MUST read. The myth that antidepressants are addictive has been debunked – they are a vital tool in psychiatry | Carmine M Pariante
