Great to hear the opposition mention disability early on in their response to #Budget2021. We need to get to the point where people with disabilities do not have to battle for their rights. Today you could have done a lot more for them says @PearseDoherty #DisabilityMatters

None of the 91 Children's Disability Network Team is fully staffed and there is an average vacancy rate of 25% across Children's Disability Network Teams, @HSELive tells CEDIY committee. Really important that recruitment and retention issues are urgently addressed

Almost 70 TDs, across parties and the whole opposition, are supporting the motion in the Oireachtas tonight calling on the government to address the #disabilityfundingcrisis. We don’t often all agree on issues, but we do agree on this! @HollyCairnsTD

On @rteliveline @joeliveline now Andrew says "I live not in poverty but destitution. My electricity meter ran out on Sunday. I had to sit in the dark and couldn’t cook for 3 days, until Wednesday when I got my Disability Allowance." @AnneRabbitte @HHumphreysFG @joefingalgreen

This is worrying. Therapists like SLTs, physiotherapists and occupational therapists do vital work supporting people who are born with or acquire disabilities. Extra resources needed instead of reallocating essential staff. @IrwinGill @deepend_ireland @ChildRightsIRL @naiireland
Concern grows as HSE therapists redeployed as Covid-19 testers irishtimes.com/news/health/co…

Disabled people have extra costs that can reach €12,300 a year. But Disability Allowance is only €208 a week. Those unable to work due to disability are FIVE times more likely to live in consistent poverty than national average. Action needed in #Budget2023 #KeepYourPromises
With reports coming out that the social welfare payments are at most to be increased by €15 it seems that our community living in poverty is not the priority for government that it should be. #CostOfLivingCrisis #CostOfLivingCoalition

An increase of €12 in weekly payments is nowhere near enough to keep up with inflation. Anti-poverty groups, including DFI, called for more than double that. Once again in 2024, disabled people will face a real term cut in their income. #EndPoverty #Budget2024
A screenshot of DFI's Budget asks for social protection. Read more here https://www.disability-federation.ie/publications/dfis-pre-budget-submission-2024-to-the-dsp/

Both the previous Minister for Health @SimonHarrisTD and current Minister @DonnellyStephen said the €20m cut to disability services would be reversed. But now the Minister does not know if it will go ahead. Services need an answer.
