As Black members of the @NYCCouncil, we stand with Tennessee Reps @Justinjpearson and @brotherjones_. We condemn the expulsion of these young Black lawmakers and this racist assault on democracy. We stand with them and millions across the country in demanding gun reform.

- I joined 70+ Latine leaders in opposing the nomination of Hector LaSalle as Chief Judge of the NY Court of Appeals. Diversity is important but not enough. NY must have a diverse and progressive Chief Judge. impactolatino.com/surgen-nuevos-…
- On Thursday I’m introducing a bathroom bill that would compel NYC to meet a goal of 1 public 🚽 per 2000 residents by 2035. Why? 💩 You gotta go when you gotta go 🩸 For menstruation equity 👵🏽 For our older adults 👶🏻 For the babies 🚴🏽♀️ For workers 🧑🤝🧑 For everyone! 🧵/1Tomorrow, the city council will introduce a bill that would require NYC to come up with a plan "establishing and maintaining a public bathroom network," and create 4,200 new public toilets by 2035. - Indefinitely pausing congestion pricing is taking NYC in the wrong direction! Our public transit system is in need of investments and expansions. We need upgraded and accessible subways & faster and electrified buses. New Yorkers need reliable transit – not more delays.NEW: @GovKathyHochul is considering delaying the implementation of congestion pricing, as concerns mount that the controversial policy could hurt Dems in tight races this year. - Our team was devastated to hear of Ryan Carson’s passing today. Ryan was a dedicated environmental advocate who worked tirelessly to protect our communities and ecosystems from the climate crisis. I send my condolences to all of his family and loved ones who are grieving.
- Up early with @thenyic @MaketheRoadNY and Council Members @CMJulieWon @CMShahanaHanif and @crystalrhudson to welcome asylum seekers who have been cruelly bussed to NYC from TX. Today a woman with a 6 day old baby arrived after a 3 day bus journey.
- NYC spent an immense amount of money to a consulting firm to advise on how to build large outdoor tents for asylum seekers in a flood prone parking lot. Then rebuilt it on Randall’s Island. If he’s looking at costs, maybe he should reflect on the costly mistakes he’s made. The letter Eric Adams sent the City Council late last night that's caused outrage - asking the council to give up some of its discretionary funding if they want to support asylum-seekers so badly. Story to come.
