I totally got choked by a big scary guy in a locked psych ward. Hoisted by my own lanyard right as I was trying to lock the door. Never wore them after that— I can tell you that! (but I did still go into Psychiatry)

Addiction is giving up everything for one thing. Recovery is giving up one thing for everything.

THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME, if I’m not mistaken, that there will have been a recommendation to the DEA to make cannabis schedule three. Twice they have refused. If they do it again, I will say it again : Abolish the DEA.

I tell my patients who are pregnant that it is important to read books on breast-feeding and to take a class if possible. We all read books about delivery but the truth is your body will do what it needs to if you get out of its way. Nursing requires more education +support.

DSM has added a new diagnosis: Prolonged Grief Disorder. There should b no timeline on feeling whole again (they put it at a year), but I'd ask researchers to consider using MDMA assisted therapies for this new classification. Or psilocybin assisted therapy. Or LSD. Or ayahuasca.

I told ya! Runner's high is due to endocannabinoid system, not opiate/endorphin. They gave naltrexone, an opiate receptor antagonists to runners, and they still got "high." sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Psychedelics induce neuroplasticity resembling the effects of clinically approved antidepressants, which bind to TrkB, the receptor for BDNF. LSD and psilocin directly bind to TrkB with affinities 1,000 fold higher than those for antidepressants. nature.com/articles/s4159…
