David Friedlander

Yale University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Pronouns: he/him
Languages: English (fluent)

David brings over a decade of experience to his facilitation work, specializing in presenting, coaching, and feedback.

Before joining LifeLabs, David focused on creating human connection both with audiences at large and in individual tactical practice to uncover the people skills and needs underneath any number of scripts and job functions. Witnessing the spark of recognition from people of all ages across all levels around just how much life and people impact our work is a recurring joy.

In the room, David is known for bringing a signature blend of humor, expertise, and care for participants. He’ll take the time to build a space for people to converse and practice in an unguarded and collaborative fashion. Outside of work, you can find him in high stakes negotiations with a tow-headed child and rascally corgi at any given moment of the day.

Which LifeLabs Learning value most resonates with you? +-
The value that most resonates with me is Find a Way to Play. We close ourselves off from learning and from connection when everything must be taken capital S seriously. The effective use of humor and silliness is a fantastic tool for creating sticky learning and building trust. We are more apt to foster meaningful relationships and even pull harder for our colleagues when we can see one another as a source of joy and fun as well as support.

The skill I help teams build fastest + how we practice it live

“I will let you and your team show up as you are, leave feeling prepared to put practice into action, and at least two of you will have an above average time.”

What Changed for Learners

“I went into this workshop thinking we would learn how to talk and coach people and came out a better active listener with tools in my toolbox for asking effective questions. These workshops have felt like therapy for the workplace, making me better and stronger in my role.”

Workshop participant

“David was incredibly respectful and thoughtful, especially in acknowledging the current state of the country outside of work. He created a genuinely safe space for participants to show up with whatever capacity they had that day. I have the utmost respect for his professionalism and facilitation style.”
