About Us
Our Mission
Code/Art is dedicated to increasing the number of girls studying computer science by delighting and inspiring them with the creative possibilities of technology.
Our Vision
We envision a world where all girls have a positive early introduction to computer science through art that leads to greater representation of women in tech and the arts—two fields where women have been historically underrepresented.

The Problem
Less than 1 in 5 computer science graduates in the US today is female, even while nearly 1 million high-paying computing jobs are unfilled or being filled by foreign workers.

How We Help
Code/Art provides the education, skill-building and support that closes the gaps preventing girls from entering, learning and succeeding in computer science fields.
“Many girls never even try coding because they think it’s purely computational and not something where they can be creative. By infusing art into all of our coding lessons, we show them coding can be creative. That’s where Code/Art really stands out.”
– Amy Renshaw, CEO & Founder
Our Values
Innovation
We place a high emphasis on coming up with new and creative ideas, and finding new ways to approach challenges and opportunities.
Community
We’re better together. All our programs create opportunities for collaboration and teamwork with a focus on supporting and empowering each other.
Inclusivity
We create welcoming and inclusive environments for ALL members, regardless of their background or identity. You belong here.
Social Good
By prioritizing social good, Code/Artists use the tech skills they’re taught to create a more equitable and sustainable world for all.
Code/Art in the Media
Our “Secret Sauce” is Art
Our welcoming, early coding programs use art as a gateway to develop technical and entrepreneurial skills while promoting social good. With a curriculum aligned to CSTA standards, we focus on training art teachers to use code as a tool for artistic expression in the classroom. By introducing coding through art, we help girls build the three C’s—Competence, Confidence, and Community—and empower them to see themselves as coders and changemakers.
Overall Goals
Introduce girls to coding at an early age through art class
Provide programs for girls in grades 3-12 that teach coding & entrepreneurial skills and expose them to CS careers
Build community & create spaces where girls can feel included and represented
