Getting To Wrexham
Wrexham sits in the north-east corner of Wales, close to the English border. Despite its position away from the main motorway network, the now-city is well served by road and rail and is straightforward to reach from across the UK.
The town has two railway stations Wrexham General and Wrexham Central, with regular services operated by Transport for Wales. By road, the A483 trunk road (known locally as ‘the bypass’) sits to the west of the main city centre area and is the main north/south road route. The A483 connects Wrexham to the motorway network in both directions, further north the A483 joins the A55 which can take you up into North Wales, or into northern England – linking into the M56 / M53 for those looking from a Manchester/Liverpool direction.
Looking south the A483 continues all the way to Swansea, but before then splits into the A5 or A470 if you are looking towards Cardiff! If you are heading here from the West Midlands often you will look for the M54 around Telford, head towards Shrewsbury and then take the A5 to us.
For international visitors, the nearest major airports are Manchester and Liverpool, both roughly an hour away by car or train connection via Chester. Hawarden Airport is nearby, and for those using private or small planes could be an option for a landing.
London is approximately 2.5-3 hours by the fastest rail route, with Euston station taking you north and you can expect to change at Crewe or Chester.
