About me

BIO

I am an aspiring game developer.

After years of working in retail, I looked upon a career change, and being a gamer since I was a child, thought about joining the gaming industry.

I didn’t know much about all the jobs available in that field, I just knew, considering my drawing abilities, that the artistical part wasn’t for me, and I was kinda scared about coding (it does look like black magic when you don’t know any better!), so I turned towards game design. I studied game design for two years (starting with boardgames, then video games).

Having to use game engines and visual programming (Construct 2 and Unreal Engine 4 back then), I developed a strong interest for programming, and by the end of my game design training, I got an internship with a freelance developer, who not only helped me improve in game design and visual scripting (by recreating classic games like Tetris, Bomberman or Sokoban, with Construct 2), but also proposed me to work on coding and taught me basics of HTML/CSS/JS, making parallels with Construct visual scripting to understand the logic of programming.

This appetency for coding led me to learn more, and I started studying C++ on my own while I was looking for a job in game design . If you ask me why C++, that’s because I like Unreal Engine, and it runs with this language.
At some point I felt like I wasn’t making any progress, but I really wanted to know more, so I took a 4-month training in game development, learning about C# and Unity with an accomplished game developer as a mentor. And if you ask me why C# I’d say that the language does not matter as long as you get the logic behind, and what I learned in any of those works with the other one (almost).

I am now looking for a job as a game developer, mainly as a programmer, but ideally at a position where I could also put my game design learning at use. Feel free to reach out.
