#NaPoWriMo Day 5: Poem — Tetrocrys – “God Wins” #amwritingpoetry

For NaPoWriMo Day 5 the prompt is as follows: ” The challenge is to use/do all of the following in the same poem. Of course,  if you can’t fit all twenty projects into your poem, or a few of them get your poem going, that is just fine too!

  1. Begin the poem with a metaphor. ✅
  2. Say something specific but utterly preposterous.
  3. Use at least one image for each of the five senses, either in succession or scattered randomly throughout the poem. ✅
  4. Use one example of synesthesia (mixing the senses). ✅
  5. Use the proper name of a person and the proper name of a place.
  6. Contradict something you said earlier in the poem. ✅
  7. Change direction or digress from the last thing you said. ✅
  8. Use a word (slang?) you’ve never seen in a poem. ✅
  9. Use an example of false cause-effect logic. ✅
  10. Use a piece of talk you’ve actually heard (preferably in dialect and/or which you don’t understand). ✅
  11. Create a metaphor using the following construction: “The (adjective) (concrete noun) of (abstract noun) . . .” ❔
  12. Use an image in such a way as to reverse its usual associative qualities. ✅
  13. Make the persona or character in the poem do something he or she could not do in “real life.”
  14. Refer to yourself by nickname and in the third person.
  15. Write in the future tense, such that part of the poem seems to be a prediction. ✅
  16. Modify a noun with an unlikely adjective. ✅
  17. Make a declarative assertion that sounds convincing but that finally makes no sense.
  18. Use a phrase from a language other than English. ✅
  19. Make a non-human object say or do something human (personification). ✅
  20. Close the poem with a vivid image that makes no statement, but that “echoes” an image from earlier in the poem.” ✅

Tetrocrys — 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 10, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 10

You,

We’re my,

Rock; safety —

Amidst crossfire.

A cradle to an infant’s crying,

You supported her when lights went dim.

You were rest, sunny days, and warmth given.

You were support,

Wind surging,

Wings that —

Soar.

Life,

Inhaled,

Luscious grass,

Fresh aroma, with —

Strength (despite betrayal), hurled from stone.

****

Yet,

You have,

Become a —

Safety net caught;

Around her strangling; she pushes through storms.

Never how she was, never how she’s been.

Anger for you,

Destroys you.

Time lost,

Leads —

To —

Increased,

Anger wrought.

No intention,

Of forgetting, your betrayal’s stark pain.

****

Rocks,

Don’t mush;

They crumble,

Beneath feet when,

You’ve sworn to support, to in faith uphold;

There’s not enough in the world to forget;

Fake-kindness,

Ambiguity,

You’re vile,

Tool.

Dark creatures you know: vous avez tres coeures froid.

****

You’ve,

Nothing,

But madness,

Sheer brokenness;

You should remain warm, open, soft.

But, your demeanour‘s frozen, false, empty.

You’re love‘s disgrace.

Flaming arrow,

Snuffedout.

Wickless,

Light.

Pale,

Shifting,

Shadows that —

Lack reality,

No silver-bells or sweet tongues, you’re liars.

****

They,

Of —

Utter black.

Memories warm,

Nothing but, the absence of light;

Of truth, love, you’ll never hold; so languish.

Sticky couer froid,

For even —

Stone calls —

Out;

Screams —

Against,

Your heartless tricks.

Thus, you’re endless trapped; God wins, beats you — no question.

****

I writhe, I wreathe for I’m neatly twisted,

You’ll never unravel me, my heart unknown.

You hold the tether on my talons tight fisted

I’m tenacious, a survivor bold,

You can tie me in knots, try to keep me near;

I’ll escape, live without your blackness owned.

I don’t quit; you shouldn’t trap me for fear,

I’ll catch you first, she-wolf who swiftly bites.

Your callous ropes hurt, but I’ll disappear

Love doesn’t choke, it’s not uninviting

Love is a freedom, not a smoke screen

But you’re in my den, I’m growling my spite

My name isn’t “Sweetheart,” don’t demean me;

Power struggle invoked, within your ropes —

I’ve held dear, but know I’m incharge here.

Droplets of blood, I swear I won’t be broke

Such a darkness in you raptured by my light.

Goodness will win; she-wolves don’t quit, they’ve hope.

My love, no more traps, let my heart be free

Your wolf, let her breathe, she’ll return to thee

I writhe, I wreathe, for I’m neatly twisted.

You hold the tether on my talons, tight fisted.

Laughter in the moment, golden hour found

Hearts beat as one, time stops, without a sound

Swing her up into your arms, because it —

Felt like the thing to do, she’s dear and swift;

Her punch on your arm, painful kind of bliss

All to happy to meet with a wet kiss.

Perserved in time the clock keeps ticking fast,

Moments gone, looking back, it never lasts.

Years slide forward, what can you do but,

Move forward too, memories cause a rut.

Laughter in the moment, golden hour found,

Hearts beat as one, time stops, without a sound

—-

Swept her up into your arms, because it —

Felt like the thing to do, she’s dear and swift.

Wiggling and giggling in your —

Arms; begging to have legs on ground restored

She thought she was too heavy for your back,

You just laughed and kept her close, said “Relax.”

You were walking barefoot on the cool —

Wet ground, the grass made you slip, such glad fools.

Drop of joy harnessed in a crystal glass

Kept to hold, make the precious moments last.

Laughter in the moment, golden hour found,

Hearts beat as one, time stops, without a sound.

Her punch on your arm, painful kind of bliss

All too happy to meet with a wet kiss.

Lovers as close as lovers can be, rolling —

On the blanket, on grass, after strolling.

Gleam in her eyes promising heaven,

Twist of her smile taking you to Never —

-land of pirates, lost boys, and she, Wendy,

Picking up a sword, fighting for her when —

Pirates attacked; shoeless running in real

Life; time ceasing again, treasures for feels.

Laughter in the moment, golden hour found

Hearts beat as one, time stops, without a sound

——

Perserved in time, clock keeps ticking fast,

Moments gone, looking back, it never lasts.

The truth is hard to swallow, to remember

Years pass, euphoria is dismembered

Harsh realities, sickness, health; sickness wins,

She flew away my sparrow with the wind.

Such disease sucks the life from a body,

Hope, a religious dream from pain prodded.

A new eternity to love, swing round with —

Dirty bare feet and love despite death’s grip.

Laughter in the moment, golden hour found

Hearts beat as one, time stops, without a sound
