Sorting, to be worked through.

Exists before night,

Finding solutions, problems I examine.

She’s the epitome, the standard,

What women should be like,

Humming music,

Mother of six children,

Few lines on her face, she holds up.

Although, life’s pressure can be confining,

Her lips smile a gesture rehearsed.

What’s underneath in her —

Boarding school mind,

Her hair?

Model,

She’d wants all to —

Perceive she’s the perfect wife.

Society expects her to —

Set perfect example because —

She’s upperclass, the lead in the charade.

Acting as the moral —

Center, she must —

Model

Portrait,

Of the great dame,

Her family, pride, joy,

Madame’s smile is slipping because,

Performing all the time is exhausting.

She wonders if she might sit with —

Port to sip, not thinking,

Herself; not a —

Humming,

As the bird who’s —

Thrumming in the air,

Struggling for each flutter so

Rapid; so utterly fast it’s blurring.

My wings in flight are haze to you,

You don’t see underneath;

Desperation,

Humming.

Darkness,

Arising in —

My stomach, spiraling,

To the surface out of my —

Broken soul that I mend in those worlds found,

In each and every story, novels —

Ending hiding; I’m no —

Crab in my shell’s —

Darkness.

In dreams,

I writhe, I twist,

Tales of old and new —

Follow me when enters Sandman,

To calm adventures stripping me of sleep.

But just as I live in my books,

I live in nightmarish —

Tales at midnight,

In dreams.

Awake,

Oh, sheltered one.

Let the black smoke rise, cleanse —

Your body from your shattered self,

Set free your mind, let your spirit live,

Life’s the greatest adventure,

Stories read fill gaps;

Burst forth spirit,

Awake.

Cherries,

You’re sexy as,

Women who curl cherry —

Stems into knots with skillful tongues.

Unafraid to bare your body,

When it’s appreciated.

With love, you expose your —

Soul; All for ripe —

Cherries.

As books,

Sweet red cherries,

From the Okanagan,

A valley of delicacies.

Driving through B.C. in summer, you —

Stop at every fruit stand,

Selling juicy fruit — truths;

Cherries savored,

As books.

Smokescreen,

Floats up swirls as —

Papal smoke; the blackness,

Forgiven reading thousands —

Of tales, every genre, every language.

Devouring ‘reads’ as cherries,

Demons gone; living with —

Wisdom taught, no —

Smokescreen.

Light’s glow,

In each tale read.

Nourishes souls; keeps me —

Aching to learn, wanting to know,

Of worlds, fantastic characters —

With hubris, compelling charm.

While some characters are —

Searching hard for,

Light’s glow.

Writing,

It filled holes,

Torn in souls, in hearts wrecked,

The reader became author,

Discovering within her fingers lies a —

Haven, a solace of peace, rest;

Because the story grows —

In her, exposing —

Writing.

With clarity,

Minds are required to —

All the relevant outcomes forecasted,

Made with thinking of calculated —

Risks; all aspects bad,

Or fortunate,

To see.

Because,

Limited sight,

Costs lives, so we try —

To foresee what could occur.

What is likely to happen in certain —

Situations; or what won’t —

Occur; we attempt to —

See the future,

Because.

We live,

Blindly despite,

Attempts to know.

We can’t actually know;

As much as we make it seem,

As if we can configure potential,

But it’s all a fantastic lie.

We know nothing but —

Footsteps ahead,

We live.

Blindly,

Our sight fades for —

Physically our prime is —

Short; but we can see past —

Spiritually if only —

We choose to see, to look within and find,

Our immortality left,

After we pass on.

We try to see,

Blindly.

In life,

We desire to —

Know what happens —

Next; can we stop our fears,

Trouble from taking place or should —

We leave it in God’s hands and let,

I’m a person deserving equality;

Because I’m feminist,

Doesn’t mean I’m against men.

Required for me are but —

Same wages, salary —

For the same position worked.

Provide me access to healthcare,

Birth control; doctors —

Of all specialities needed whenever.

I’m a working woman, educated —

well; the Mom —

Driving her kids to hockey.

Tidying the house and hoping,

My ‘modern’ husband,

Helps me because shared chores —

Equal happier relationships –less fighting.

Don’t talk trash,

Swing her up into your arms, because it —

Felt like the thing to do, she’s dear and swift;

Her punch on your arm, painful kind of bliss,

All to happy to meet with a wet kiss.

Perserved in time the clock keeps ticking fast,

Moments gone, looking back, it never lasts.

Years slide forward, what can you do but,

Move forward too, memories cause a rut.

Laughter in the moment, golden hour found,

Hearts beat as one, time stops, without a sound.

A new eternity to love, swing round with —

Dirty bare feet and love despite death’s grip.

Day 10 – NaPoWriMo – Abecedarian – An Alphabetical Poem – “The Dance of Life”

Always walking in the shadows I see your every stance;

Because I can’t help but watch you, as you move I glance.

Conversely, you are watching me as I strike a pose lipstick in hand;

Dedicated to your mission of figuring out the dance I move.

Entrancing as it is to watch each other move, we are figuring out more;

Finding out the steps we move to each other’s waltz, while keeping up a tempo;

Guiding our feet along one another’s, you move, I move, this is the dance.

Holding hands, you gently lead and take your steps so carefully;

If I should ever step on your feet, God forgive me because we are waltzing for life.

Just because you should stop, I would always wait for you;

Killing all movement is not a reason for you to let go, I will find your pace.

Laughing, uproariously as we linger at the parts we get especially close;

Movement with you is always a good time, moving with you I am consumed.

Never have I felt so alive and full of vibrancy and color, we are vapour;

Only the fastest couple can catch us as we move to this lover’s tune.

People will try and emulate us but each couple moves all their own way;

Quickly, and quietly we move, no dance once danced, can ever be the same.

Rest is required when I am out of breath, you know me like a plant knows sunlight;

Safely, you guard me while we sleep, and dream of jazz and tap, a little R&B.

Together we incorporate the dances that go beyond the waltz, for life moves beyond what’s known;

Understanding your footwork, I match my own footwork to it;

Various movements cause us to spin and sometimes I feel a tad dizzy;

Waking as we move, dancing makes me feel weightless at times.

Xylophone’s play a little beat as we begin to slow our pace;

Zany business is this dance called life, but I’d only dance it with you.
