Presented by the Shawangunk Runners,  this scenic race showcases the vibrant fall foliage, rich history, and natural beauty of the Hudson Valley along the iconic Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, and all proceeds are donated to WVLT’s work in protecting open spaces, trails and farms here in Ulster County.

Two Fun Options, One Unforgettable Day

Whether you’re chasing a new goal or enjoying a brisk autumn stroll, there’s something for everyone:

  • Half Marathon
A mostly flat, well-groomed course along the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail with two brief detours to keep things interesting and rewarding.
  • 6K Run/Walk
Very popular in 2015, this is perfect for walkers and casual runners who want to take in the views, history, and community spirit at a relaxed pace.

Highlights Along the Route

  • Cross the Historic Rosendale Trestle: Soar 150 feet above the Rondout Creek on a 146-year-old bridge featured on the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s Top 10 Iconic Rail Trails
  • Williams Lake “Cave” Passage: Travel through a unique geological tunnel and enjoy lakeside vistas on the Williams Lake Project property.
  • Fall Foliage at Its Finest: With every step, take in sweeping views of the Hudson Valley’s fiery autumn leaves.
  • A Town Steeped in History: Rosendale’s natural cement once built the Brooklyn Bridge. Today, the town is a hub of the arts, culture, and outdoor adventure.

Why Rosendale Runs?

All proceeds benefit the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, whose mission includes the preservation, protection, and enhancement of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail—the very trail you’ll be racing on!

“T2026 will be our third race event in partnership with Shawangunk Runners on our Rail Trail,”  says WVLT Executive Director Christie DeBoer. “And we are delighted and grateful to have the professional running club, Shawangunk Runners, leading it!”

Registration Details will be posted closer to event.

We need helping hands at water stations and road crossings! Stay tuned for volunteer sign ups!
