Film Showcasing the Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary.
Check out: “Bird Sanctuary,” a coming-of-age film directed by Myles Flusser which features the WVLT’s Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary in New Paltz. The screening is at Denizen Theatre, which is located on the upper level of the Water Street Market in New Paltz on Sunday, April 19, at 5 p.m. The screening of “Bird Sanctuary” includes a live in-person Q & A with the filmmakers and some of the cast members.

Big Sit Fundraiser at Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary
Date: Saturday, May 2, 2026
Time: Dawn to dusk
Location: Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary
Spend a spring day celebrating birds and supporting conservation. The Oxbow Oddballs return to Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary for their annual Big Sit Fundraiser, a friendly birding competition where participants identify as many bird species as possible from one fixed circle over the course of a single day. The Sanctuary is an excellent place to observe spring migration, and the team regularly spots more than 50 species. Funds raised through this event are donated to WVLT to support stewardship of the sanctuary.
