Enabling immersive hotel presentations and inclusive travel experiences with VR

BONUS TRAVEL s.c. is a Polish tour operator and travel agency with over 20 years of experience in the tourism industry. In addition to organising traditional travel and holiday packages, the company develops innovative ways to present destinations and accommodations to both consumers and travel professionals.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, BONUS TRAVEL expanded its services to include immersive virtual experiences. This led to the creation of 360VRhotels.com, a platform specializing in the production of VR360 hotel videos and guided virtual tours.

The initiative supports a wide range of audiences, from travel agencies and tour operators to schools, seniors, and people with disabilities, making travel experiences more accessible while improving decision-making in the booking process.

The challenge

As 360VRhotels.com scaled its VR offering, BONUS TRAVEL needed a reliable way to present immersive content to multiple viewers simultaneously. Traditional video presentations were not sufficient to convey the spatial experience of hotels and destinations. Key challenges included:

  • Presenting the same VR content to multiple users at the same time
  • Keeping all VR headsets synchronised during live sessions
  • Managing content efficiently across different devices
  • Supporting both offline and online VR360 video playback
These challenges became especially critical during professional roadshows, where travel agents experience hotel content together and later use VR as a sales tool in their own offices.

The solution

To support professional, large-scale VR presentations, BONUS TRAVEL partnered with VR Expert and implemented VR Sync. VR Sync enables the synchronised playback of VR360 content across multiple headsets, allowing presenters to guide groups through the same virtual environment at the same time. Content can be launched, paused, and controlled centrally, ensuring a smooth and consistent experience for all participants. The solution provides the flexibility required for live demonstrations, roadshows, and group sessions, while remaining intuitive enough for use by travel professionals without technical backgrounds.

Can you tell us a little bit about your company?

“BONUS TRAVEL s.c. is an experienced tour operator and travel agency. The owners have 20 years of experience in the tourism industry. We organise trips and sell holiday packages. Since the pandemic, we have created virtual tours that imitate traditional travel. We started recording VR360 videos/scenes from popular cities (such as London, Paris, Berlin), thinking that since we cannot go there, we will bring these cities to our customers. We started organising presentations for groups (schools, elderly people, disabled people), during which everyone has VR goggles and a synchronised image, but... the group is accompanied by a professional guide who talks to the group live and answers questions. During the presentation, the group asks questions, just like on a normal tour. Later, we filmed attractions in our most popular destinations and hotels that we have in our traditional tour offer. This is how the idea for 360vrhotels.com was born.”

    The company currently deploys Meta Quest 2 and PICO G3 headsets, with a strategic focus on rolling out PICO devices to travel agencies across Poland.

    By combining high-quality VR360 content with synchronised playback, 360VRhotels.com has significantly enhanced how hotels and destinations are presented to travel professionals and customers.

    According to BONUS TRAVEL, hotels that use VR360 content achieve up to 87% higher booking rates, as customers gain a clearer and more realistic understanding of accommodations before travelling.

    For travel agencies, VR has become a practical sales enablement tool that improves engagement, confidence, and conversion during customer consultations.

    At the same time, the solution supports inclusive tourism by enabling people who are unable to travel physically to experience destinations in an immersive and meaningful way.

    Looking ahead

    BONUS TRAVEL continues to expand its VR ecosystem and is exploring further integration of VR Sync to enable controlled experiences even on a single headset within travel agencies. This approach allows agents to curate the customer journey while maintaining a high-quality immersive experience.
