Persecution Watch: Pray for Christians in Laos
(Voice of the Persecuted) We invite you to join us tonight in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
LAOS: Population 7.8 million, Christians 220,000
Christians in Laos face intense persecution against the backdrop of authoritarian Communist rule and strongly held ethnic traditions.
The Lao government recognizes three churches: One Evangelical group, Catholic and Seventh-day Adventist. Other Christian groups must operate unofficially. Even among approved groups, an estimated 75% of congregations lack permanent buildings, and baptisms cannot be held publicly, especially in rural areas. Consequently, many Christians are forced to meet underground in ‘illegal’ house churches. The authorities regard Christianity as a Western religion opposed to Communist ideals. Laos’ growing dependence on China has reinforced its commitment to Communism, adding to the vulnerability of Christians.
In rural areas, traditional practices – which tend to be a mixture of Buddhism and folk religions – often supersede national laws. Christians face surveillance, discrimination and violence from communities, village leaders and families. In many cases, believers are deemed to have ‘upset’ spirits, and persecutors respond by destroying their crops and expelling them from the village. Obstruction to burying loved ones in local cemeteries is a common problem for Christians, adding to their grief.
Converts can be especially susceptible to hostility, as they are viewed as threatening government authority and betraying family unity. Christians who are active in evangelism, notably church leaders, can also be particularly vulnerable.
The hotspots of persecution tend to be in rural areas, as opposed to urban regions where locals are typically more tolerant towards Christians.
Prayer Points
- Pray to the Lord for touching President Thongloun Sisoulith and make him recognize the need to approve and protect all churches.
- Pray to the Lord to soften the hearts of the Communist leaders throughout Laos, that they would allow the freedom to follow Jesus.

- Pray to the Lord for the Lord House churches in Laos which are largely unregistered and often must meet secretly.
- Pray that God will protect these followers of Jesus.

- Pray to the Lord to grow and protect the Christian Orphanages who minister to teenagers who are going through spiritual warfare and deliverance from bondage – Animism, Buddhism, Spirits.
- Pray to the Lord to heal all those who are suffering and meet their every need. That the NGOs will meet their needs for spiritual as well physical support and needed trauma counseling.
- Pray to the Lod to keep believers from harm and keep secret gatherings free from surveillance and raids.
- Pray to the Lord to give His believers supernatural love needed to forgive their persecutors and that they will see your love for them.
- Pray to the Lord that Trans World Radio and the internet will have both messages to encourage believers and draw the lost to you Lord.
- Pray to the Lord to mightily expand the number of believers, that the forces of darkness will fail to hinder and suppress the lost coming to accept You Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Again, we want to lift-up these persecuted witnesses to the Lord:
Leah Sharibu, a prisoner of Boko Haram since 2018. Pray for her release.
Pastor Wang Yi to be released from prison, for his family and for the church.

What is Persecution Watch?
Persecution Watch is a U.S. national prayer conference call ministry that prays specifically for the global Persecuted Church. For over a decade, Blaine Scogin led this national network of believers who faithfully pray for the persecuted and the global harvest for the Kingdom of God. The group meets via a free call-in service every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday night at 9pm Eastern time in the United States (please check your time zone). Blaine also served as Prayer Director for Voice of the Persecuted, and the two missions became one. Brother Blaine passed into glory on December 26, 2019. It was truly a blessing for all of us to serve alongside this dear man of God. The prayer mission of Persecution Watch remains an important part of our mission. The Voice of the Persecuted is committed to continuing the prayer conference call for the persecuted along with the dedicated Persecution Watch prayer warrior team.
Prior to the passing of Brother Blaine, he confirmed the passing of the torch as prayer conference call leader to Nadia Dybvik. Nadia has a burdened heart for the persecuted and is a prayer warrior standing in the gap for them. She joined the Persecution Watch prayer team in 2015 and has been part of the core ever since. Before becoming the prayer call leader, she served in the role of prayer moderator since 2016. Blaine chose Nadia for her faithfulness to pray for the persecuted and her strong commitment to the Persecution Watch mission. We are blessed not only with her gift of prayer, but her genuine love for every brother and sister in Christ that comes on the call to pray. May the Lord continue to bless Nadia, the prayer warrior team in the mission and their personal lives.
“Pray for us” is the number one request that we hear from the persecuted. As the members of the first century Church, the Holy Spirit moved them to pray. We too must continue to serve those suffering persecution by lifting them up to the Lord through prayer.
On occasion, persecuted brothers and sisters join the conference call and share the trials they are facing. The team serves to encourage them by washing their feet in Spirit led prayer. Time will be reserved for those on the call to ask questions. We believe this helps to gain a better understanding of the situation that persecuted Christians endure in their specific nations. Q&A helps us to focus our prayers based on their current needs.
Persecution Watch also hosts callers who want to pray united from other nations. If your heart is perplexed by the sufferings of our persecuted brothers and sisters, you no longer need to pray alone.
We welcome all who desire to pray for the persecuted church and consider it a joy to pray together with you. If you are new to the call and cannot find your voice, listen in, and pray silently or on mute. We are grateful and thank the Lord for bringing us all together to pray in agreement for our persecuted family in Christ. We can all be prayer warriors on this call!
God bless and protect you in your faithfulness to serve.

Muslim Man’s Custody of Christian Girl Upheld in Pakistan
(Voice of the Persecuted) We invite you to join us tonight in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
Pakistan (Christian Daily International–Morning Star News) – A court in Pakistan on Wednesday (March 25) upheld the marriage of a forcibly converted 13-year-old Christian girl to the Muslim man accused of kidnapping her, sending a wave of anguish and alarm through the Christian community.
Christian rights advocates and civil society groups strongly condemned the verdict by the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC), which granted custody of young Maria Shahbaz to Shehryar Ahmad, a 30-year-old Muslim alleged to have forcibly converted and married her.
Maria was abducted on July 29, and since then, her family has repeatedly sought judicial intervention to recover her, without success.
In a detailed judgment issued on March 25 – nearly two months after its short order on Feb. 3 – a two-judge bench comprising Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha ruled that Maria was of “mature age” and therefore in the lawful custody of her “husband.”
The court held that sharia (Islamic law) permits Muslim men to marry women from Ahl al-Kitab (People of the Book) and found that Maria’s conversion to Islam was valid. It stated that no formal rituals are required for conversion beyond a declaration of faith, accepting an affidavit attached to the alleged fake marriage certificate and an Islamic seminary-issued certificate as sufficient proof.
“In Islam, no specific rituals are required for a non-Muslim to be regarded as having embraced the faith,” the judgment stated, adding that a declaration affirming core beliefs is sufficient to establish conversion. “What is required is a declaration and recitation of the Kalima, with belief in the Oneness of Allah, the Finality of the Prophethood of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, and the Holy Quran, as well as belief in earlier Prophets, Divine Scriptures, and the Day of Judgment.”
Addressing assertions by Maria’s father, Shahbaz Masih, that she was a 12-year-old minor at the time of the illegal marriage, the court dismissed documentary evidence of her age as “unreliable.” The judges cited inconsistencies in the father’s initial police report and delays in the issuance of official records, including her birth registration and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) documents.
The ruling also pointed to discrepancies in family records, including a narrow gap between the reported birth dates of Maria and her younger sibling. It further noted that Maria herself had listed her date of birth as Feb. 1, 2007, in the marriage certificate and appeared older in court.
“Her physical appearance before the court also suggests a more advanced age,” the judgment stated, concluding that the available documents could not be relied upon to establish that she was a minor.
Verdict Reviled
The controversial judgment drew sharp criticism from rights groups and activists, who argue that the court disregarded key evidence and prior findings indicating that the marriage was unlawful.
Safdar Chaudhry, whose Raah-e-Nijaat Ministry provided legal assistance to the Masih family, said the court had ignored critical investigative material.
“The judges overlooked the police’s reinvestigation report, the reinstated FIR [First Information Report], and testimony from the investigating officer indicating that an illegal marriage had been contracted with a minor, with no official record at the relevant union council,” Chaudhry told Christian Daily International-Morning Star News. “They also failed to consider that the girl remained in the custody of the accused for over six months, raising serious concerns about coercion.”
The rights defender also questioned the two-month delay in issuing the detailed judgment, calling it a “travesty of justice,” and said the family would challenge the ruling before a larger bench.
“If superior courts refuse to recognize official birth documents, there is little hope for protecting underage minority girls,” Chaudhry said.
Tehmina Arora, director of advocacy for Asia at ADF International, described the verdict as “deeply alarming” for Pakistan’s religious minorities, particularly Christian and Hindu minority communities.
“The court cannot attribute legal capacity or consent to a minor based solely on her statement while ignoring documentary evidence,” she said. “In such cases, claims of consent are often made under coercion, particularly where vulnerable minority girls face systemic pressure and intimidation.”
Human rights advocates say the case reflects a broader and recurring pattern in Pakistan, where minority girls – some reportedly as young as 10 – are abducted, forcibly converted and married to Muslim men. Victims are frequently pressured to give statements in favor of their alleged abductors, while courts often discount official age documents and validate such unions, returning girls to their alleged captors as “legal wives.”
In a strongly worded statement, the Minority Rights March (MRM) said it was “appalled” by the FCC’s ruling.
“The court not only refused to restore custody of the victim to her father but effectively legitimized her continued cohabitation with her abductor under the guise of a ‘Nikah,’ [Islamic marriage certificate]” the statement said. “While child marriage is recognized as a crime, declaring the marriage itself valid is self-contradictory and undermines the very purpose of child marriage restraint laws.”
The group also criticized the court for endorsing a coerced religious conversion.
“It is alarming that the highest judicial forum has delivered a verdict that risks emboldening those who abduct and abuse minor girls from minority communities under the cover of marriage,” the statement said, warning that the ruling could weaken constitutional protections for religious minorities.
MRM urged the Attorney General of Pakistan to seek a review of the judgment and called on lawmakers to strengthen child marriage laws, including provisions that would render such marriages void from the outset.
It also called on prosecutors to pursue criminal proceedings under existing laws and to recover Maria from the custody of the accused.
“This verdict has neither resolved the question of the victim’s age nor addressed the underlying criminal allegations,” the statement said. “The state must act to ensure justice is not denied.”
Pakistan, where more than 96 percent of the population is Muslim, ranked eighth on Open Doors’ 2026 World Watch List of countries where Christians face the most severe persecution.
Join the prayer conference call tonight and pray united with us. This dear girl and her family need our prayers.

Persecution Watch: Pray for Muslims in Europe
(Voice of the Persecuted) We invite you to join us tonight in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
Tonight, I’m excluding the Turkish part of Europe.
Islam is the second-largest religion in Europe.
Most Muslims in Europe immigrated after WWII (factory workers and refugees), but there are also old Muslim communities in:
- Kosovo – 90% of the population
- Bosnia & Herzegovina – 60%
- Albania – 60%
Russia -Caucasus (mountains dividing Europe and Asia), Crimea (taken from Ukraine in 2014), and around the Volga River (south of Mosco.)
2010 estimate:
- Muslims in Europe- 40 million (6% of the total population)
- In the European Union – 20 million (4% of the population).
- Russia -10%
- France – 9%
- Germany – 7%
- England – 7% (9% of children younger than six)
Pew Research Center forecast an increase of Muslims in the European population from 6% in 2010 to 8% in 2030.
For two centuries, mixing religion with politics brought Europe close to destruction. After the French Revolution, France wanted the state to constrain religion. This became central to France’s national identity.
- Pray John Calvin’s France would again preach Christ and the Cross.
Muslims in France often live in crime-ridden housing projects, but some believers have started ministries in the housing projects.
- Pray these ministries find wisdom and anointing for dangerous neighborhoods.
1.3 million Muslims came to Europe as refugees. 2.5 million Muslims came to Europe for other reasons, such as employment or for school.
- Pray Christians would share Gospel with Muslims, rather than the other way around.
Eastern and southern Europe have more negative views about Muslims.
- Pray that even there, believers would reach out with love to Muslims.
European secularism expects conservative Muslims to practice religion as a personal, private act detached from public, political life. But many Muslims take pride in their unwillingness to compromise to secularization.
- Pray Christians in Europe would not be blinded by secular plans.
In 1960’s-1970’s, Germany invited guest workers from Turkey; France did the same from Africa. Some of the German grandchildren are still not official citizens. Muslims learned European languages.
- Pray that they also find Martin Luther’s faith.
There are reports that recent immigrants are more open to the Gospel.
- Pray for more evangelists and church planters!
Since the Syrian war started in 2011, it’s been reported that crimes by immigrants who became radicalized, or because of cultural differences.
- Pray that stressed immigrants living in a different culture find the Prince of Peace.
Many immigrants are scarred by the Syrian civil war.
- Pray they would find peace through the great healer.
Kosovo (94% Muslim) was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in the 14th century, inhabited largely by ethnic Albanians that declared itself independent of Serbian in 2008. It is a source, transit, and destination country sex trafficking:
- Pray the guilty would repent and find Christ’s forgiveness.
- Pray for emotional, mental, and physical healing over the captives, and pray for salvation for each victim.
Youth unemployment in Kosovo is the second highest in the world, so many leave.
- Pray they would hear the Gospel in new nations.
Evangelical Christians are a very small, but growing presence.
- Pray the Evangelical growth continues.
England:
In 2005 four British Muslims bombed public transport, killing 52.
In 2013, a British soldier in London was publicly killed by two Muslim converts.
In 2017, there were four terrorist attacks, including the London Bridge, and a train bombing.
But also, British groups such as Operation Mobilization are focused on Muslims.
- Pray for their persistence.
Russia:
Caucasus –in 1785, 1817, 1944, 1994 and 1999, “Christian” Russia had brutal wars with Chechnya. The last war leveled the capital Grozny.
- Pray Russian Muslims can tell the difference between real Christians and ethnic Christianity.
Today Chechnya has its own military training and its own army, which is sent to fight Ukraine as shock troops.
- Pray that despite its segregation, the Chechen army would hear the Gospel.
The Muslim south has oil that Russia controls and is overdue for another independence war.
- Praying that the Holy Spirit saves souls before the next carnage.
Again, we want to lift-up these persecuted witnesses to the Lord:
Leah Sharibu, a prisoner of Boko Haram since 2018. Pray for her release.
Pastor Wang Yi to be released from prison, for his family and for the church.
Pastors Haile Nayzgi and Dr. Kiflu GebremeskelIt is unconscionable that these two men, along with Pastor Meron Gebreselasie who was arrested a month later, remain imprisoned under horrible conditions in Eritrea.
The Harvest: “37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38
Please join us in prayer.

Update and Prayer for Peace in Middle East
(Voice of the Persecuted) We invite you to join us tonight in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
Gaza and the West Bank Update
How the Current War Is Affecting Daily Life
Many of you have asked how the current conflict involving Iran is affecting people in Gaza and the West Bank. We recently received this update from our partners on the ground.
In the West Bank, the situation has become very tense. Rockets are frequently flying overhead toward different areas in Israel, which has created a constant sense of anxiety among the population. Fuel and gas are limited, and schools have been closed in many areas. People are waiting and wondering what the coming days will bring.
In Gaza, there has been relative stability in the sense that there has not been fighting from Gaza toward Israel during this period. For that we are thankful. However, daily life remains difficult. Some basic goods have become more expensive, and certain items are harder to find. There are reports that some aid is beginning to enter, so people are watching and waiting to see what will happen.
Within the Christian community, several families have recently left the church compound and are attempting to find places to rent. We are working to help these families as much as possible during this uncertain time.
Thank you for your continued prayers and concern for the people of the region during this time. As always, we welcome your prayers, messages, and continued connection with our ministry.
Blessings,
Pastor Hanna Massad, Christian Mission to Gaza Founder & President
Prayer Points for Peace and Justice in Middle East
(National Association of Evangelicals) After weeks of negotiations, diplomatic talks between Iran and the United States broke down, followed by coordinated U.S. and Israel strikes on Iranian military and nuclear‑linked sites on February 28, 2026. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks across the Middle East. At the National Association of Evangelicals, we grieve the loss of lives and the devastation of war, and we join with Christians around the world in urgently praying for a just and lasting peace in the region.
Please join us in praying:
- For the safety of all people, especially innocent civilians impacted by the conflict, that they would experience God as a refuge and fortress (Psalm 91).
- For the protection of the persecuted church in Iran (Matthew 5:9–10).
- For the restoration of order and security in Iran, Israel and throughout the Middle East (Isaiah 32:17–18).
- For the provision of urgently needed humanitarian aid to all who are suffering (Psalm 146:7–9).
- For comfort for those who are grieving, that they will be comforted (Matthew 5:4).
- For wisdom and guidance for all engaged in diplomacy, that their efforts would lead to a just and lasting peace (Proverbs 2:6).
- For leaders and authorities, that they would act justly, love mercy and walk humbly — surrendering themselves to God’s ways (Micah 6:8).
- For the worldwide church, that we would be salt and light, doing good for the glory of God (Matthew 5:16).
- For the unity, strengthening and faithful witness of the church in the Middle East (John 17:20–23).
- For the world, that even today, people in this region and across the globe would choose to follow Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6).
We pray that the Lord would be gracious to the world — that he would bless us, turn his face towards us, and give us peace (Numbers 6:24–26). We remember that “He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth’” (Psalm 46:9–10). Source
Please join the prayer conference call and pray with us tonight.

Persecution Watch: Prayer Guided by the Psalms
(Voice of the Persecuted) We invite you to join us tonight in a prayer conference call for the persecuted church hosted by Persecution Watch.
Psalm 101:1 “I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O LORD, I will sing praise.”
- Pray unbelievers who worship a loveless god would find Yahovah, the God of love, through Messiah Yeshua.
- Pray for justice for Christians falsely accused and / or imprisoned unjustly.
- Pray persecuted believers and all of them who are going through trials be able to praise and give thanks to the LORD.
Psalm 101:3 “I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men do I hate; they will not cling to me.”
- Pray Christians turn from pornography or any other wicked things.
- Pray against ungodly relationships and establish godly ones, especially new believers.
Psalm 101:5 “Whoever slanders his neighbor in secret, him will I put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, him will I not endure.”
- Pray false accusations against Christians fall to the ground. If any charges are brought forth, pray they will be dismissed.
- Pray that the pride of the wicked bring them down; let none of their evil plans succeed.
Psalm 101:6 “My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me.”
- Pray persecuted believers to feel the presence of the Lord guiding them and surrounding them.
Psalm 101:8 “Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land. I will cut off every evil doer from the city of the LORD.”
- Pray for the lies of the media to be silenced; pray for lies to be exposed.
- Pray for the wicked leaders of the earth be either saved or cast down.
Psalm 100:2 “Serve the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”
- Pray Christians take joy in serving Adonai and singing about him and to him.
Psalm 100:4 “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”
- Pray believers have thankful hearts; have a spirit of thanksgiving.
Psalm 100:5 “For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
- Pray persecuted believers to feel Messiah’s overwhelming love; pray they trust completely in his faithfulness and mercy.
