The VELscope family is deeply saddened by the passing of Brian R. Hill, co-founder of The Oral Cancer Foundation.
Brian was a Stage IV oral cancer survivor who transformed his own experience into a decades-long crusade for early detection, patient advocacy, and public awareness. Alongside his wife Ingrid, he built The Oral Cancer Foundation from the ground up and dedicated over 25 years to ensuring that oral cancer received the attention and urgency it deserves.
As a proud partner of OCF, VELscope has had the privilege of standing alongside Brian and his team in the fight against late-stage oral cancer diagnosis. His unwavering belief that early detection saves lives is the same principle that drives everything we do. Brian understood that when clinicians are equipped with the right tools and patients are empowered with awareness, outcomes change. Lives are saved.
His contributions to this space are immeasurable. From legislative advocacy and WHO-level engagement to grassroots screening programs and the world’s largest oral cancer patient support community, Brian’s fingerprints are on every corner of this movement.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Hill’s and the entire OCF family. Brian’s legacy will continue to inspire the work we do every single day.
Rest easy, Brian. You made a difference. 🤍
