Cookie Policy

This Cookie Statement (“Statement”) explains how Vcinity, Inc. (“Vcinity,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit Vcinity’s websites, including at https://www.vcinity.io (collectively, the “Site”).  It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your right to control our use of them.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small computer data files that are sent to your browser or application from a website’s computers and are stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit the website in order to collect a variety of information, such as, among other things, the IP address of the computer or device used to access the website, the date and duration of the visit to the website, and the type of browser or operating system used to access the website.  Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

For purposes of this Statement, cookies sent by Vcinity are called “first party cookies.”  Cookies sent by parties other than Vcinity are called “third party cookies.” Third-party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the Site (e.g., advertising, interactive content, and analytics).  The parties that send these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the Site and also when it visits certain other websites.  Third-party cookies allow third parties to deliver content and other services associated with the Site.

Why do we use cookies?

We and our third-party partners use first-party and third-party cookies for different reasons, including to study and improve the response times of the Site, see which areas and features are popular, and to count visits to the Site.  Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for the Site to operate, and we refer to these as “essential cookies” or “strictly necessary cookies.”  Other cookies enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on the Site.  Third parties serve cookies through our Site for advertising, analytics, improving user experience, and other purposes.  The specific types of first and third-party cookies served through the Site and the purposes they perform are described in more detail in the cookie banners which appear the first time you visit any page in our Site.  The information we collect when you use the Site allows us to assess performance, ensure technological compatibility with your device, and understand the importance of the information provided on the Site.

What types of cookies do we use?

Strictly Necessary Cookies:  These cookies are strictly necessary to provide you with services available through the Site and to use some of its features, such as access to secure areas.  These types of cookies allow you to move around the Site and use its features.  Without these cookies, may of the services on the Site could not be provided.

Performance Cookies:  These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources, so we can measure and improve the performance of the Site.  All information these cookies collect is aggregated and is therefore anonymous.  If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited our site and will not be able to monitor its performance.  Performance cookies do not collect information that personally identifies a user but only collects aggregated and anonymous information; they are used to improve user-friendliness and enhance the user’s experience.

Third-Party Analytics

We use third-party service providers, such as Google Analytics, Google Search, Google Ads, LinkedIn, and SalesIntel, to evaluate the use of the Site and our services.  We or our service providers use automated devices and applications to evaluate the use of the Site and our services.  We or our service providers use these tools to help us improve all aspects of the Site and our services, performance, and user experiences.  These third-party service providers may use cookies and other tracking technologies, such as web beacons or Flash LSO (flash cookies), to perform their services.  You may opt out of the use of cookies by Google Analytics here.

How are other tracking technologies, like web beacons and device fingerprinting, used?

Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website.  We may use other, similar, technologies from time to time, like web beacons (technology used to track activity such as visiting the Site or opening an email that we have sent; sometimes called “tracking pixels” or “clear gifs”) or JavaScript (placed within the code of the Site).  Web beacons are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has visited the Site or opened an email that we have sent them.  JavaScript is short code built into the Site and these scripts activate when you request an HTML page with JavaScript in it.  The script is sent to the browser and serves a similar purpose to a web beacon as, if the script is initiated, it allows us to infer you have either opened or done something on a particular page.  These technologies allow us to, for example, monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within the Site to another, count visits, deliver or communicate with cookies, understand whether you have come to the Site from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, improve Site performance, monitor Site navigation patterns and feature usage, and understand email reads and marketing campaign effectiveness.  In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly, and, as such, declining cookies will impair their functionality.  We may also use “device fingerprinting” or “browser fingerprinting.” This is technology used to identify particular machines or browsers in order to detect and prevent fraud and for information and network security.  Declining cookies may not affect device or browser fingerprinting.

How can I control cookies?

You can accept or reject most cookies by changing the settings for each category of cookies in Vcinity’s Cookies Preference Center via Cookie Settings at the footer of the Site.  If you choose to reject cookies, you may still use the Site, though you may not be able to take advantage of certain features and functionality of the Site.  Further, you may exercise your cookie preferences generally by setting or amending your web browser controls to accept or refuse all cookies.  As the means by which you can refuse cookies through your web browser controls vary from browser-to-browser, you should visit your browser’s help menu for more information.  Opting out of cookies does not mean that we are no longer using certain tracking tools.  We may still collect information about your use of the Site though that information will not have targeted or identified you.

Changes to this Cookie Policy.

Any changes we may make to this Statement in the future will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you by email.  Please check back frequently to see any updates or changes to this Statement.  This Cookie Policy was last updated on the date stated at the start of this Statement and replaces any other Statement previously applicable before this date.

Where can I get further information?
