The prompt at napowrimo.net: “Today, I challenge you to write a poem that features forgotten technology.”. I’m happy that this technology isn’t used any more, and was surprised to learn that it was once considered humane. This technology was used from the middle ages until after the second world war. Very nicely (yet gruesomely) done.
It’s fascinating to read how the perspective changed the change from a humane device to how we feel about it now. I also didn’t know how old it was, and how long it has been used. I did feel nauseous after reading about it, especially the modern times. I’m not a fan of death penalties…

Theres no such thing as a humane execution.
It does have a long and colorful history. The riddle form works well. (K)
