Hard reset

He suggested a hard reset
I was glad he found me electrifying
but as advice
against the flu
it seemed a bit too much

LFI Juna Biagioni lesson

The NaPoWriMo day 4 prompt was description. I’ve always believed that’s not my thing. Even the wild invitation to describe something abstract “in the form of relentlessly concrete nouns” couldn’t tempt me. Then I read this poem: Conflicted emotions. It’s strong imagery really works. I realised there’s fun and inspiration in this prompt, I just have to go and look for it. Thanks for showing me, Kevin!

Tritina trial

Appelknuffel.jpgAn apple a day
keeps the doctor away
which seems okay

But when your doctor’s okay
you want to see him everyday
you don’t want him to be too far away

So when the doctor’s away
and you don’t feel okay
it’s okay to stay away from that apple a day

Silliness for day 7 of #NaPoWriMo. I wanted to understand what a tritina is and how you can write one. I think I get it now, so I’ll try to do better next time 🙂

Who’s counting?

zombie_frog_800Sweet little sixteen
wrote fourteen lines
to make her number one
love her second to none

The seventh son of the seventh son
took a fifth after eight

That’s murder in the third degree
he stated, satisfied
after killing his fourth zombie

Nine, ten
to kill again
thirteen birds
with fifteen stone
as he dropped a tup on the aviary

The prompt for NaPoWriMo day 3 was a fourteneer. This is as close as I’ll get to one 😉 Syllable counts are beyond me. I loved reading what other people came up with though. If you like to read more, my dear online friend David compiled a list of participants whose work he loves: http://toofulltowrite.com/2015/04/03/poem-poetry-a-road-ravaged-by-thoughts/

You can’t keep a bad drink down

Be where you are
and not in the sink
I’m sure you didn’t
need that last drink
Don’t yell at me
I said it with a wink
(Sorry, I’m too tired to think)
But there’s a link, I think
between drink and the sink
though even puke doesn’t look pretty in pink

I just found this one in an old notebook. It’s relevant, I feel to tired to think. I do wonder if I was drunk when I wrote it…

Today’s prompt was to write about fear. I could claim that I wrote this especially for today, #OctPoWriMo day 26, and that it’s about the fear of throwing up 😉

T a I b

This is a story about a car
a car that didn’t go far

It suffered from motion sickness
badly

Knackered today. Time for some silliness. Though I’m not a car, I suffer from motion sickness badly. When I’m tired I even have it when I drive… Luckily I’m Dutch and supposed to do as much as I can on a bike. Never had motion sickness on a bike 🙂 Day 8 of OctPoWriMo. The prompts are good, my brain is just not complying.

Ode to a warrior

He was a poet
though you’d hardly know it
from his Viking attire

His tent was erect
and though it wasn’t perfect
this was something to admire

For there had been a coop
he had a fucked up hoop
he needed his german poncho to solve it

Good thing he’d murdered that hun
or it would have spoiled the fun
you see, he didn’t bring his Bivi kit

Obvious

If I am one
and you are all
it’s all for one
and one for all

That’s it, 30 poems in 30 days, #NaPoWriMo is over and I’ve made it. Yay!

No news is good news

Darling, we need to talk
– zap –
I’m serious
– zap –
Are you paying attention?
– sure –
We are bankrupt
– zap –

Written for #NaPoWriMo day 26. I might turn it into a longer one some day, but definitely not today. Tired and uninspired.

Micropoem

All is well
That ends swell

(right, #NaPoWriMo day 21 covered, now I have time and freedom to go for the New York recipe poem and spend quality time on that. And even go to bed early and sleep off my brilliant weekend)

Bad move

In the beginning
The goddess created a god
He took over

(#NaPoWriMo day 4, a lune: a three line stanza. The first line has three words. The second line has five, and the third line has three.)
