ADD123 (AutoDataDirect) Integration

Auto Data Direct (ADD) provides services that many of our clients utilize to support their impound management process. There are three main components to what they offer: DMV Searches, National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) Searches, DirectPost-Office (DPO).

DMV123

DMV123 is ADD’s real-time vehicle inquiry system for qualified businesses that need access to real-time motor vehicle data. Currently, DMV123 offers owner and lienholder search capability in 42 state jurisdictions.

  • It is searchable by VIN or License Plate (search key varies by state). Their integration supports the DMV search in Towbook through the ADD application.
  • Owner and Lienholder information will automatically pull back into Towbook and a record of the search will also be available in ADD.
National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS)

NMVTIS is a federal database containing automobile information from states, insurance carriers, and the salvage industry.

  • As an approved NMVTIS data provider, ADD’s title check reports provide information from a vehicle’s current title, including the vehicle’s brand history, title history, and any reported odometer readings.
  • NMVTIS vehicle reports will also show if a vehicle has been reported as “salvage” or total loss. Many states require an NMVTIS search, and even in states where they are not required, many towing companies will elect to run them.

These reports can expedite their process in notifying owners and lienholders by determining state of title and save headaches down the road by avoiding the unintentional sale of a stolen vehicle.

DirectPost-Office (DPO)

DPO is a certified mail service with a suite of letter and form tools designed to help towing companies easily create, send, and track state-required documents from one simple online platform.

  • Towing companies are required to notify vehicle owners and lienholders that their vehicle has been impounded and is accruing charges. DPO saves a trip to the post office and allows tow companies to mail their letters directly from ADD123 to the owner or lienholder.
  • Towbook customers using the integration can mail out any of their letters in Towbook to the owners or lienholders listed in the call.

These three tools come together to help tow companies manage their entire process:

  1. NMVTIS provides a theft check and confirms state of title.
  2. Once the state of title is confirmed, DMV123 provides owner and lienholder information.
  3. From there, customers can utilize DPO to send required notices to vehicle owners and lienholders.

This complete process helps to facilitate either an owner or a lienholder claiming the vehicle or allows the towing company to sell the vehicle once the towing company has completed the process required by the state.
