Access real-time owner and lienholder information from DMV123 via Auto Data Direct directly in Towbook!

If you need to determine who the owners and lienholders are for a vehicle you have in storage, you can do so with the click of a button in Towbook thanks to our integration with Auto Data Direct’s DMV123 service.

A DMV123 search is state-specific, and provides owner and lienholder information, searchable by VIN, tag, or title (search keys vary by state).
What is so important about DMV123 is that the web-based search provides real-time records – which are important to businesses that depend on accurate information to complete their federal and state-mandated processes. Real-time records let you know that the info is timely and accurate when you pull the record. Knowing who legally owns or has interest in a vehicle goes a long way toward avoiding delays, saving legal expenses, and preventing fraud.

Included information varies slightly by state, but motor vehicle records contain, when available, the owner’s name and address, lienholder name and address, registrant, and registration information as well as vehicle data such as make, model, year, tag, and title number. If you’re not sure where to begin your search, ADD’s National Title Pointer (NMVTIS/Theft Check) can use a VIN to help you find the state of jurisdiction, then link you to that state to access the owner/lienholder record.

DMV123 in Towbook

Performing a DMV123 search in Towbook is easy!
Once you’re connected, click on Impounds and then select the impound you’d like to perform a search for.
Select “Import from DMV123.” Ensure the correct state is selected and select “Run MVR Report.”

Once the report has been run, Owner and Lienholder names and addresses will be returned directly to your call in Towbook. These parties can then be notified via ADD’s DPO service.

Connecting to ADD123 with Towbook as a Manager:

1. Click on the “Settings” tab.
2. Select “Impounds”.
3. Click on “AutoDataDirect Integration” and connect there.

Connecting to ADD123 with Towbook as a Dispatcher:

1. Click on the “Impounds” tab.
2. Click on any impound to enter the impound details page.
3. Select the button to “Connect to ADD123”.
4. Once connected, the button will change to say “Import from DMV123”.
