What is NMVTIS?
NMVTIS (National Motor Vehicle Title Information System) is known under a variety of names, including Title Pointer, JSI, and Theft Check, through this service, you can learn which state a vehicle was last registered in as soon as you impound a vehicle! The NMVTIS search is available for vehicles in all 50 states!
Have you ever unknowingly sold a stolen vehicle? NMVTIS searches via Auto Data Direct (commonly known as ADD) provide the best mitigation efforts available on the market to avoid this mistake.
Running an NMVTIS report before selling a vehicle provides a real-time theft check and a high degree of confidence that the vehicle you are selling is not a stolen vehicle.
What information does NMVTIS provide?
NMVTIS is a powerful tool for your business to provide things like:
- Current state of title.
- Previous state of title.
- Title issue dates.
- Odometer readings.
- Current brand(s).
- Previous brand(s).
- Date the brands were applied (in NMVTIS-participating states).
- Junk, salvage, and insurance total loss data.
- Theft Data.
- Lienholder Name (when available).
For those already signed up with ADD, simply connect your account today and start using this tool.
You can connect via the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Impounds’ tab.
- Select any impound to be taken to the impound details page.
- Select the button to ‘Connect to ADD123’.
- Once connected, the button will change to say ‘Import from DMV123; you’ll select this button to open the NMVTIS search.
Once you’ve determined the Current state of title, perform a DMV123 search to determine the Owners and Lienholders.
Then notify any required parties via ADD’s DPO tool.
