The African Space Leaders Award aims to recognise four SGAC members for their contributions to the space field in the SGAC region of Africa as well as to provide opportunities to talented individuals to attend the 8th African Space Generation Workshop (AF-SGW) that will take place hosted by the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) and the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT), Abuja, Nigeria on the 20th – 21st November 2024.

SGAC is looking for motivated and committed volunteers to bring their expertise and knowledge to the organisation of the 9th African Space Generation Workshop (AF-SGW) which will take place on the 19th and 20th of December 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.
Based on the success of previous African Space Generation Workshops (AF-SGW), SGAC will organize the 8th African Space Generation Workshop in 2024.
SGAC is looking for motivated and committed volunteers to bring their expertise and knowledge to the organisation of the 8th African Space Generation Workshop (AF-SGW) which will take place on the 20th and 21st of November 2024, in Abuja, Nigeria.
The 9th African Space Generation Workshop (AF-SGW) is a two-day workshop, which brings together students, young professionals, industry experts and government stakeholders from across the African continent. It provides an unparalleled opportunity for the future leaders of Africa’s space sector to proactively establish strong relationships, exchange ideas and knowledge, and to collaborate on novel ways in which space technology can be utilized for the benefit of Africa. The 9th AF-SGW will take place on the 11th and 12th December 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya. The theme for this workshop is ‘Together for Africa’s Space Future’ Participants will be divided into working groups (WGs), each focusing on a specific sub-theme broadly covering Space capacity building, Space Policy and Law, Space Entrepreneurship, and Space Trourism.
You are cordially invited to a special open-hour conversation on partnerships at the regional level with the SGAC African regional coordinators and partnership manager. The SGAC African team would like to take this opportunity to strengthen the partnership with your institution and present you with significant regional projects where your assistance might propel our robust space ecosystem to a new horizon. Partners are crucial for the continent and on a global scale. In order to build the Africa we want, we would like to create a worldwide coalition with your help to raise awareness through outreach programs, meet capacity-building goals, and deepen the integration of space sciences, applications, and technology in every country. Let's leave behind something we can be proud of for future generations.

The 6th AF-SGWl will take place on the 25th and 26th November 2022, in Rabat, Morocco. The theme for this workshop is ‘#Space4Africa for a more prosperous continent’ and participants will be divided into working groups (WGs), each focusing on a specific sub-theme broadly covering Space Education & Outreach, Space Law & Policy, Space Business, Space Systems & Technology, Space Life Sciences & Applications, AI, Big Data and Quantum Technology in GIS.
