About SORBA
Since 1989, the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) has worked to expand access to thoughtfully planned trails that strengthen communities across the Southeast. Today, SORBA supports a network of strong local chapters by providing the framework and resources they need to advocate for and develop well-planned, diverse trail systems that serve riders and communities alike. As the leading mountain biking organization in the region, we believe everyone should have access to the mental, physical, and social benefits that mountain biking provides.
Together with our chapters, SORBA envisions a Southeast where thriving local organizations are at the heart of healthy, vibrant, and sustainable communities—connected by accessible and progressive trail systems. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, we empower local leaders to create and sustain trails that serve riders, families, and outdoor enthusiasts of all backgrounds.
SORBA’s work is powered by our members and volunteers. Each year, thousands of hours are dedicated to advocating for trail access, raising funds for trail development, building new trails, and maintaining existing ones. Join SORBA today or donate to help grow access to great trails across the Southeast.
SORBA and its chapters are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with chapters in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. All contributions are tax-deductible.

Y’all means ALL!
We truly feel that SORBA is Powered By Y’all, and when we say y’all we mean everyone. The more diversity we have in our organization, the more unique perspectives and bright ideas we share. We believe everyone should have access to the mental, physical, and social benefits mountain biking provides. And when we say everyone it is regardless of their race, color, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, physical abilities, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, or criminal history. Trails bring together a community and everyone is invited!

Class 1 eMTB Policy
We support the use of class 1 eMTB on natural surface trails where it is appropriate based on the needs of our local chapter. Access for class 1 eMTBs varies based on the land managers requirements. We do not support the use of class 2 or class 3 eBikes on natural surface trails.
A class 1 eMTB is a low-speed pedal-assisted electric bicycle that provides assistance only with the rider is pedaling and has a top-out speed of 20mph.
For more information about eMTB, visit our friends over at IMBA for more specific information based on national-level land managers.
