Child's Pose + Turned, Balasana
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Child's Pose + Turned
Shape:
Knees wide, big toes touch
Arms out forward
Refinement:
Press big toes together
Belly in towards the spine, keep the breath from expanding the belly in favor of expanding the ribcage
Variations:
First, the forehead touches the ground and the arms soft, elbows down
Second, tight the arms and push hands away from hips back
Third, crawl the hands out to the side. Breathe into the opened ribs to expand the side of the ribcage.
Points to consider:
Return to this position with the forehead grounded to neutralize if later backbending postures start to bring tension to the back or if the practitioner develops a felt need to emphasize standing up "straight" (hyperextension of spine, over backbending throughout the day)
