Clair de Lune
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
As per request, I finally got to the lab for a half hour or so and recorded something. I figured I'd start with something easy-ish, so here you are. Not my best playing, but passable I think.
This is Clair de Lune from the Suite Bergamasque by Claude Debussy.
EDIT 22/03/2013: I've been thinking of uploading videos to accompany my playing for awhile and finally took a break from composing today to do it. For those of you who wanted to see the Hammerfist in action, here you go!

For those of you leery of downloading a video from an unknown stranger, take heart! You don't have to download it. It'll stream straight from Google Docs like a YouTube video. There is also the advantage that the keyboard that I recorded it on this time (mine, teehee) is far better than the one I used in the original recording. I may have played it a little better, too :P
Enjoy, and let me know what you think (i.e., comment...please)!

My Dear Lion ... let no one try to beard you about your talent ever again. They are fools, unworthy of your merest attention! Encore! Encore!
Funny that I listened to this now, considering that I've been thinking about piano playing quite the lot recently, due to all of the recent HH chapter titles being quotes or parahprases from the lyrics of a certain piano...hmm..artist's most famous tune. *chuckle*
I don't often get to say this, but I'll say...fave, and five-star-vote, and I also downloaded this, to add to my collection of versions of thing piece. *chuckle*
Thank you, Hammerfist!
As far as I'll Be Seeing You, which pianist's rendition did you have in mind? The arrangement I'm most familiar with is when it was sung by Billie Holliday (not my favorite jazz vocalist, but up there)
Thanks a million for your support and encouragement!
I think I'll let the music speak for itself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5iwu-KwXJE
My pleasure, as it was a pleasure to listen to this as well :)
Thanks again!
As for musical compulsive behavior...well, I think that during Season 1 of Hockey Hunk, when Haakon was shipping for the Eurovision Song Contest, I had people comment that they were YouTube-searching for more and more awful Eurovision trash songs .*chuckle* Nonetheless, fun to hear that I got you going :)
Cheers, and no problem :)
Listening to this song takes me through a variety of emotions, but I think it makes me think of happy things the most. I kept looking back at my mate (Who was watching a youtube movie) and smiling at him. At least one of us can be romantic... *Sighs*
As for Clair de Lune, I probably should have thrown it through a compressor, but I just posted the raw recording straight from the keyboard. Piano's got too much of a dynamic range to record without some sort of compression. I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Any other "celestially inspired" classical piano pieces that you can think of?
Part of being a performer means having confidence in your own talent. No matter wat. Yes, it explains people like Pauly Shore, who have very little if any talent, and get by on hutzpah alone. But it also explains the myriad of creative performers out there who rose above the doubt and the insecurities to change our lives.
I always look at the shining examples of whatever art I'm doing...and invariably despair at my own perceived lack of ability. But closer inspection shows me my error - there are always those who are less talented and capable than I. And yes, that's kinda twisted - but the question really comes down to - did the audience like it?
As artists, we are never satisfied. It is our Faustian agreement in exchange for our talent - our bit of madness from which greatness can spring. We are our harshest critics, very often. Always grow, always strive, always perform for YOU. And always remember that you will bring something beautiful to someone anytime you express yourself through art.
-TGU.
As for this piece, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the votes and faves on both of these piano pieces!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks!
