Sneaky the Library Cat Interviews Prudence the cat from Dead Focused and Hocus Pocused by March Blesy

Hello pretty cat. What is your name and your author’s name?

Prudence is my name. I am a white beautiful, fluffy cat. My author’s name is Marcy Blesy.

Mice to meet you both.

What book(s) have you appeared in? Please list them and their genre.

I am in Marcy Blesy’s newest series called The Empty Nest Mystical Cozy Mystery Series. The book is called Dead Focused and Hocus Pocused.

Love the title, and I’m a cozy mystery cat, too.

Are you in a series? If so, please give information about it.

Yep. This is book 1, but Marcy has more planned. Here is a shortened series’ blurb:

The Empty Nest Retreat was supposed to help Juli find herself—not make her question reality.

When her kids leave the nest, Juli Tully signs up for a phone-free retreat at a windswept Lake Michigan estate. Instead of peace, she finds strange happenings—flickering lights, shifting temperatures, even floating objects—and a group of quirky strangers she didn’t ask for.

Then an employee dies under suspicious circumstances… and Juli becomes the prime suspect.

With her sanity on the line, a murder to solve, and a sarcastic talking cat who knows more than she should, Juli must uncover the truth before her fresh start ends in handcuffs.

A humorous cozy mystery featuring midlife reinvention, light paranormal twists, and found-family chaos.

Pawsome! Thanks for sharing.

Are you based on a real cat such as your author’s? If so, please give further details.

No. My author has tabby cats. I’m unique and not nearly as sweet as Marcy’s cats Pam and Gem.

I’m sure you are. I’m a Siamese by the way and also unique.

Can you share an excerpt from one of your books that features you in an important scene? If so, please include it.

The door swings open unexpectedly. I take a step back, knocking into a wall sconce. The shade crashes to the ground, shattering glass around the hallway rug. “Oops! I’ll clean that up.” I drop my bag and turn back toward my room.

“Wait!” Prudence jumps into her owner’s arms as Ms. Esther calls out my name. “Juli, how long were you listening?”

“I…what…no…I…”

“Long enough,” says a low gravelly voice—a combination between a smoker’s voice and a dry hotel morning voice—but most definitely not from Ms. Esther or from Pinkney as his lips have not moved.

“Who…who’s there?” I call out, which seems ridiculous as clearly Ms. Esther and Pinkney are the only ones standing in the hallway. And…and…Prudence?

“Yeah, it was me.” The fluffy tail of the irritable cat swishes in the air as she’s stroked by her owner.

“I…I…ouch.” I step back against the wall and hit the back of my head on the exposed lightbulb.

“Prudence! Naughty kitty! You know better than to speak without permission.” Rather than chance chastisement again, the cat simply licks Ms. Esther ’s cheek before jumping out of her arms and racing down the stairs.

A Purrfect excerpt.

What do you like most about your role in your authors’ books?

I’m a lazy cat. I show up when I’m needed. Otherwise, I’m chasing my toys down the long corridors of the estate until I conk out and curl up in front of the fireplace in the library.

MOL (Meow Out Loud). That sounds like fun.

Are you a talking cat in your books or just a silent one like I am who just meows occasionally?

I talk, but not everyone is able to understand.

That’s always an issue.

What advice would you give other cat characters?

Be yourself. Humans will like ya just the same.

Great advice.

Do you have any new books coming out? Please give dates and details.

My author, Marcy Blesy, has several series. Can you believe she’s working on book 12 in the Tucson Valley Retirement Community Cozy Mystery Series. There’s a dog on the cover. The audacity! I hope she gets started on book 2 in my series soon.

Not surprising. My author, Debbie De Louise, has three series, and I’m only in the Cobble Cove one.

The Empty Nest Retreat was supposed to help Juli find herself. Not question her sanity—or reality.

When Juli Tully’s kids fly the coop and she takes early retirement, the silence in her house is deafening—and not in a calming, spa-music kind of way. At her mother’s not-so-subtle urging, she signs for the Empty Nest Retreat at the Sand Bur Estate, a stately mansion perched on the windswept dunes of Lake Michigan.

Juli nearly bolts when she learns the retreat is phone-free. No texts. No doom-scrolling. No emergency updates from her kids. Instead, she’s stuck with an unusual group of fellow empty nesters: Nelle, a perpetually cheerful optimist; Kimmie, a bubbly influencer convinced the estate is magical; and Jedd, an arrogant dad who fancies himself Parent of the Year—and takes an instant dislike to Juli.

Then things get… strange.

Temperatures swing wildly. Lights flicker. Objects float. Juli can’t tell if her menopausal symptoms have gone off the rails or if rumors about the estate’s supernatural past are true.

Between meditation sessions and awkward financial-planning talks, one of the estate’s employees dies under suspicious circumstances. Thanks to Juli’s increasingly unpredictable “episodes,” she becomes the prime suspect.

With a murder to solve, a reputation to save, and a sarcastic talking cat who knows more than she’s letting on, Juli must uncover the truth—before this empty nest lands her in handcuffs.

Sneaky the Library Cat Interviews Princess Fuzzypants from A Blue Ribbon Murder by T.C. LoTempio

Hello, Ms. Cat. What is your name and your author’s name?

Princess Fuzzypants, and my author’s name is T.C. LoTempio.

Mice to meet you both. What book(s) have you appeared in? Please list them and their genre.

I have appeared in some of the Urban Tails Pet Shop Mysteries, which are cozies. Death Steals the Spotlight, Cats, Carats and Killers, A side Dish of Death, and our latest, A Blue Ribbon Murder.

Concatulations!

Are you in a series? If so, please give information about it.

The Urban Tails Pet Shop Mysteries which focuses on Shell McMillan, an ex-actress turned Pet shop owner, who solves mysteries with the help of her three cats (and an occasional assist from her friend and former co-star Gary Presser.)

Sounds pawsome!

Are you based on a real cat such as your author’s? If so, please give further details.

Actually I am based on a friend’s cat that you might have heard of- the real Princess Fuzzypants from Canada. Sadly the Princess passed away, but I am glad to have the opportunity to keep her alive in these stories.

That is very kind of you.

Can you share an excerpt from one of your books that features you in an important scene? If so, please include it.

Gary swept away the last of the food, then leaned on the broom and looked at the Princess. “You know, Princess Fuzzypants, you’ve got a shot at the title of Supreme Household Pet. Unfortunately, there’s no secret prize or twenty-five grand that goes with it.  Just a blue ribbon, probably—and some extra kibble in your bowl that’s not ill gotten gains.”

The Princess looked at Gary, then at me, then back to Gary, and let out a loud meow.

Gary grinned.  “By George, I think she wants to win it.”

Purrfect excerpt. Thanks for sharing.

What do you like most about your role in your authors’ books?

I somehow manage to save the day or give an important clue!

Good job!

Are you a talking cat in your books or just a silent one like I am who just meows occasionally?

All of us are silent, but we speak volumes with our expressions.

A good way to communicate.

What advice would you give other cat characters?

Trust in your author to let your true self shine through.

Great advice.

Do you have any new books coming out? Please give dates and details.

A Blue Ribbon Murder, sadly, is the last in the Urban Tails Pet Shop Mysteries. It came out March 31.

Sorry to hear that, but I’m sure readers will enjoy catching up with all the books.

When the organizer of a major cat competition is murdered and the grand prize is stolen, Shell McMillan will have to claw through the clues to catch a killer . . .

The Kitty Club Cat Show has come to Fox Hollow, and everyone from casual cat lovers to competitive breeders has shown up for the contest. Pet shop owner Shell McMillan has two cats entered, and like everyone else she has her eye on the grand prize, a vibrant red leash with a solid gold cat-head figurine attached. As the judging begins, cat owners clash and the fur flies, until a power outage throws the whole arena into darkness. But when the lights come back up, the event’s organizer is found dead and the grand prize is missing.

Shell knows the obvious suspect is the victim’s stepson, who’s up to his neck in gambling debts and would kill to get his hands on his inheritance. But there are plenty of disgruntled competitors to consider too, including some who had an old score to settle with the victim. Every clue is catnip for Shell, especially as she puzzles out whether the thief and the murderer are the same person. Either way, with two crimes to solve and a killer on the loose, she’ll have to tread carefully so that her dreams of Best in Show don’t end with Rest in Peace . . .

About T. C. LoTempio

Sneaky the Library Cat Interviews Black Cat from Black Cat and the Immigrant Child by Elaine Faber

Hello, Mr. Cat. What is your name and your author’s name?

I was called Thumper in my first two adventures, but now I’m known as Black Cat. That’s much more manly, right? My ‘minion’ is called Elaine Faber.

Nice new moniker.

What book(s) have you appeared in? Please list them and their genre.

I have starred in five cozy cat mystery adventures. Black Cat’s Legacy, Black Cat and the Lethal Lawyer, Black Cat and the Accidental Angel, Black Cat and the Secret in Dewey’s Diary, and my latest, Black Cat and the Immigrant Child.

Pawsome!

Are you in a series? If so, please give information about it.

Though each of my five novels can stand alone, they do follow in a time sequence. All the books are on Amazon, and the e-books are just $3.99. The premise of my novels is this. All cats can view their ancestors’ memories if something triggers them. This has allowed me to assist my minions in solving mysteries by communicating a clue to them.

Wow, Meow!

Bootsy

Are you based on a real cat, such as your author’s? If so, please give further details.

Oh yes, my minion’s cat, Bootsy, is the muse for my black-and-white Tuxedo coloring and hairstyle. Imagine my surprise when we went to Texas, and I met Murphy, the Maine Coon barn cat, who looks just like me but is three times bigger. It was quite a hit to my self-image, for sure.

I can imagine.

Can you share an excerpt from one of your books that features you in an important scene? If so, please include it.

Black Cat woke to the sound of slight thumps outside. Through the pale light, he saw the shadow of a head and shoulders outlined against the window, and the scritch-scritch of a glass cutter on glass. Black Cat stood, hackles raised, and growled. The killer had claimed he would silence the little girl who witnessed the murder. Black Cat’s heart thumped as he watched the window.

Angel awoke to Black Cat’s growl and lifted her head. “What’s wrong?” She blinked sleep from her eyes.

“Someone’s trying to break in. I think he’s coming to hurt Estella.”

Angel jumped off the bed, her fur standing on end. She hunkered down on the throw rug as the circular slice of glass hit the floor. A hand reached through the hole in the window and grappled with the latch. The window slid up, and a boot and a leg appeared over the edge.

“No time to explain. Let’s roll!” Black Cat shrieked and flew across the room. With Angel at his side, Black Cat lunged at the man’s foot while Angel howled loud enough to shatter glass. Black Cat’s teeth chomped onto the man’s ankle. He let out a curse in Spanish. Between Angel’s howling, Black Cat’s shrieking, and the man’s yelping in pain, it was no surprise when the bedroom door flung open, and Brett stood in the doorway with a golf club in his hand.

There was a great thrashing and cursing from the intruder as he attempted to extricate himself from Black Cat’s jaws, climb back out the window, and scurry down the ladder. In the process, the ladder fell, and they heard a whumpf outside. By the time Black Cat and Brett reached the window and looked out, all they could see was the dark outline of a man limping away.

Purrfect excerpt. Thanks for sharing!

What do you like most about your role in your authors’ books? Mostly, that I’m the center of attention, which is, of course, my rightful place.

Of claws, it is.

Are you a talking cat in your books or just a silent one like I am, who just meows occasionally?

I yammer all day long to my animal companions and the ranch animals. I can only communicate with inferior humans by leaving clues to help them move forward in their investigations.

That’s my modus operandi, as well.

What advice would you give other cat characters? Talking to one another is completely acceptable, but please don’t attempt to speak in your human’s inferior language. It diminishes you.

My motto exactly.

Do you have any new books coming out? Please give dates and details. At the moment, as I publish Black Cat and the Immigrant Child, the fifth cat mystery, I have no immediate plans for another, but one never knows, does one?

One never does. I was tickled pink which is something for a Siamese when my author wrote Rock a Bye Bye Baby, the 6th Cobble Cove cozy mystery, after a long time while she was working on other series, and I know she’s planning another after that and hopefully more.

Are you and/or your author on social media? If so, please list your links. Besides Amazon, my minion’s website is http://www.mindcandymysteries.com, and she is on Facebook under Mindcandymysteries. Hope you’ll check us out. If you love cats and humor, you’ll love my Black Cat mystery novels.

I certainly well. Best whiskers to you and your author on your new release. I’m sharing your blog tour below.

A tale of corruption and deceit met with compassion and tenacity.

Kimberlee, Dorian, and their pets return to Grandmother Lassiter’s multimillion-dollar horse ranch on the Mexico/Texas border to settle her affairs following her demise.

On their first day in Texas, an illegal immigrant, likely carrying drugs, is found murdered on the Lassiter ranch. A six-year-old girl is at his side.

Black Cat and Angel overhear a ranch hand admit to the murder and declare to eliminate the child who witnessed his crime.

Determined to shelter the little girl, the family is thrust into affairs that include intrigue, humor, and mystery. Join the family as they ride with wild horses and search for a notorious Wild West bandit’s undiscovered stolen treasure.

Black Cat joins forces with Murphy, his Maine Coon rival and compatriot, and Cedric, the resident barn rat, in an attempt to prevent another murder and capture the miscreant.

Sprinkled generously with Black Cat and Angel’s humorous relationship and interactions, this is another story that will delight Black Cat’s fans, cat lovers, or readers who enjoy light mysteries and humor.

Sneaky Interviews Manny the Cat from Trapped and Tested by Sharon Marchisello

Hello, fellow Cat. What is your name and your author’s name?

My name is Manny, and my author’s name is Sharon Marchisello.

Welcome to my blog. What book(s) have you appeared in? Please list them and their genre.

You and I met last year, just after Trap, Neuter, Die, the first book in Sharon’s “cozy adjacent” cat rescue mystery series was published. I appeared after my former owner had been murdered, and I led DeeLo and Catherine to her strangled body. DeeLo later adopted me, and I’ve vowed to take better care of my humans. Trapped and Tested, the second book in the series, was just released. Of course, I’m in that one, too.

Mice to see you. Tell me about your series.

Sharon has a three-book contract from Level Best Books to write a cat rescue mystery series. And I am the star. (Okay, maybe I’m not the star, but I’m important to the plot.)

The series features thirty-year-old DeeLo Myer, who moved from Los Angeles to Pecan Point, a small Georgia town near Atlanta, after her divorce. In the first book, she was sentenced to community service with the Pecan Point Humane Society in their Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return (TNVR) program to help control the overpopulation of free-roaming cats. Her first night on duty, DeeLo was trapping feral cats behind the bookstore where I used to live until my human was murdered. Later, I helped DeeLo identify and catch the killer.

In Trapped and Tested, DeeLo has finished her court-ordered community service but chooses to continue helping the Pecan Point Humane Society with their TNVR program. When DeeLo first got involved with TNVR, she learned that Pecan County’s animal ordinance contains language that suggests TNVR is not legal. So, DeeLo has made it her mission to lobby the Board of Commissioners and get the law changed. Her efforts didn’t work out in the last book, but she’s trying again, getting involved in local politics to elect a new commissioner with animal-friendly ideas. Unfortunately, she gets sidetracked by another dead body. This victim is the CEO of Neuroscience Laboratories, a medical research facility that performs neurological tests on cats.

Wow, Meow! I don’t like the sound of neurological tests on cats, but the plot sounds interesting.

Are you based on a real cat such as your author’s? If so, please give further details.

My author has been owned by cats all her life, and she’s also a foster mom for the Fayette Humane Society. She says I’m a composite of many cats she’s known over the years.

Debbie also has had cats since she was a child. In her Cobble Cove series, I was slightly based on her Siamese, Oliver, who is now on the Rainbow Bridge. It’s nice that your author is also a foster mom to kitties.

Can you share an excerpt from one of your books that features you in an important scene? If so, please include it.

Here’s a passage from Trapped and Tested, where DeeLo has tasked me with checking out Kwintone, her niece Demi’s newfound half-brother.

Kwintone and I settled on opposite ends of the couch. As we sipped our wine, Manny watched us from his perch.

Kwintone pointed. “Did you know there’s a cat on your bookshelf?”

“Oh, really?” I glanced at Manny, gold eyes glowing, body still as a taxidermy specimen.

“Is it real?” Kwintone flinched as Manny blinked. “Oh, my God, it’s real.”

I shrugged. “Manny was raised in a bookstore. He feels most comfortable sleeping among books.”

“He’s staring at me.”

“He’s checking you out. Manny is an excellent judge of character.” I cupped the cool goblet in my hand.

Kwintone took another sip of wine. “Well, those gold eyes give me the creeps.”

Like a ninja, Manny leaped from the bookshelf and sauntered over to the couch, bushy black tail in the air. He sniffed Kwintone’s athletic shoes and then the leg of his khaki pants.

Kwintone set his glass on a coaster and bent to stroke Manny’s large head. “Hey, buddy.”

Manny sniffed his hand, mouth slightly open, then head-butted it to encourage more petting. No growling, no hissing.

Really, Manny? “I guess he thinks you’re okay.”

Manny crouched, then jumped into Kwintone’s lap. I watched for his reaction—the moment of truth. Was he a cat person? Would he recoil?

Although slightly startled, Kwintone adapted quickly and ran a hand along Manny’s spine. With the other hand, he pointed to Manny’s ear. “Why does your cat have an ear tip? He’s obviously not feral.”

“He was born in a feral colony but got injured as a kitten, so the woman who found him—the bookstore owner—brought him inside to heal. He decided he preferred living indoors.”

“How did you end up with him?”

“His owner died.”

“Aw.” Kwintone scratched the cat’s chin. “Sorry, buddy.”

“She was murdered.” I hadn’t meant to blurt that out. No need to add that I’d found her body on my first night doing community service.

Pawsome! Thanks for sharing.

What do you like most about your role in your authors’ books?

DeeLo has figured out that I’m an excellent judge of character.

Purrfect!

Are you a talking cat in your books or just a silent one like I am who just meows occasionally?

I’m not a talking cat, either, but DeeLo and I communicate in other ways.

Good for you! I only talk to the other pets in my books.

What advice would you give other cat characters?

Be patient with your humans. Sometimes they’re slow learners, but most of them can be trained to take good care of us.

Excellent advice.

Do you have any new books coming out? Please give dates and details.

The third book in the series, Trapped in a Lie, is scheduled for the fall of 2026. DeeLo will continue her quest to get the county animal ordinance changed to support TNVR, but unfortunately, there will be more obstacles. Murder might be one of them.

Concatulations!

After getting a speeding ticket, Kwintone is assigned to community service in the Pecan Point Humane Society’s Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return program—trapping cats with DeeLo on the new Oakwood Studios lot. The disinterested trainee leaves abruptly on his first night, and later DeeLo finds his car abandoned beside the road, phone on the seat.

Where is Kwintone, and is he connected to the stabbing of the CEO of Neuroscience Laboratories—a medical research facility that tests its products on cats?

DeeLo is still determined to change the county’s animal ordinance to support TNVR, but is the newcomer candidate she backs for the open commissioner slot involved in a murder?

Sneaky the Library Cat Interviews Sydney, the Siamese from Dug to Death by Gianetta Murray

Meow, there, Mr. Cat. You look a lot like me. What is your name and your author’s name?

My name is Sydney and Gianetta Murray is my human servant, who mostly quotes me accurately, though she occasionally misses the nuance of feline wordplay.

Mice to meet you both.

What book(s) have you appeared in? Please list them and their genre.

I have appeared in both the Vivien Brandt Mysteries, first in Moved to Murder and more recently in Dug to Death. I am also mentioned in the prequel novella, Ungrateful Dead. I am currently working on solving multiple murders remotely in Shipped to Slaughter, as Vivien has left me at home while gallivanting with her family. I believe these tales are referred to as cozy mysteries, though I rarely get to be cozy in them because I’m busy solving puzzles too complicated for the human mind.

MOL (Meow Out Loud). Good point. I’m a cozy mystery cat, too, and I know exactly what you mean.

Are you in a series? If so, please give information about it.

The Vivien Brandt Mysteries detail the misadventures of Vivien and myself after we move from California to a supposedly quaint village in South Yorkshire, England. I was ripped from the sunny climes of Silicon Valley when Vivien fell “in love” with a Brit, so now it’s all rain all the time as I strive to keep the villagers from murdering each other. Although, I must admit, I do like the British radiators.

Sounds interesting, and I like radiators, also.

Are you based on a real cat such as your author’s? If so, please give further details.

My author has always had multiple cats, and her first one was part Siamese, so I suppose there might be some influence there (although I am, of course, purebred). As she has solved exactly zero murders in real life, I must assume I am also more intelligent than her other cats.

She does have quite a lot pictures of them spread around the house, as well as wooden statues of sleeping cats that I am given to understand contain the ashes of past (passed?) feline companions. Because hey, nothing like living in a graveyard, eh? Honestly, people…

I can relate. Debbie has some cat ashes in her home, too. I’m based on her Siamese who is now one of those ashes, but I keep his memory alive.

Can you share an excerpt from one of your books that features you in an important scene? If so, please include it.

I wish I could, but that fact is, any scene I appear in is important since I am usually providing invaluable clues for crime solving. Well, either that or sleeping.

If I gave away any of these crucial plot points, no one would buy the books and my author would be unable to provide the snacks I so richly deserve.

But trust me when I say without my massive intelligence and lightening-fast reactions, there would be many more dead bodies than there already are.

I understand purrfectly.

What do you like most about your role in your authors’ books?

I enjoy living with a family again, where I can play them off each other by withholding purrs and ankle massages as they all seek to be my favorite. Solving their little human problems isn’t nearly as interesting.

I see.

Are you a talking cat in your books or just a silent one like I am who just meows occasionally?

I’m more on the taciturn side, letting my actions speak volumes (literally). I generally save my Siamese howls for the middle of the night, when they gain me maximum attention.

One of Debbie’s real life cats does that, too.

What advice would you give other cat characters?

Less is more. You can get your full 16 hours of sleep and three meals a day (plus luscious treats) while still popping in at crucial points to save humanity. There’s really no need to be cute and fluffy and bouncy about it, or to engage in frivolous chitchat.

Pawsome advice.

Do you have any new books coming out? Please give dates and details.

As previously mentioned, in the third Vivien Brandt Mystery, Shipped to Slaughter, I’ve been left at home in the care of Inspector Fenton Torksey, who is one of the more decent humans I have met in this cold country. He communicates with Vivien via something called a “Zoom” call, so I’m able to keep up with the tragic events unfolding on her cruise–including the mysterious orange hairs visible on her clothing–while also monitoring a very dodgy situation at home.

I’ve also been promised a short story of my own at some point, but I’m not holding my tuna-laden breath.

Good luck with that.

Are you and/or your author on social media? If so, please list your links.

Gianetta is, and she can be found on Facebook and Instagram as well as BlueSky. I believe she also has some sort of blog on something called Substack.

All her links can be found on her website, https://gianettamurray.com , or at https://linktr.ee/gianettamurray .

Thank you for the cat chat, and best whiskers to you and Gianetta on your new release. I’m sharing your blog tour below.

“Wicked stepmother” wasn’t something Vivien wanted on her resume (or CV!).

But six months after moving from California to join her British husband in a quiet Yorkshire village, Vivien and her cat Sydney are confronted with a volatile 24-year-old stepdaughter and the sparks begin to fly.

It certainly doesn’t help when they join a local protest and a body turns up.

In this sequel to Moved to Murder, Vivien must once again work with her enterprising neighbors to solve a murder and clear her family’s name. Which isn’t easy when you’re dealing with people who “Ear all, see all, and say nowt”!

About Gianetta Murray

Gianetta Murray grew up in California in the heady days of Silicon Valley, but for the last twenty years has lived a slightly more peaceful existence in England with her husband and a minimum of two cats. She enjoys rewatching Hollywood musicals and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, plays guitar and ukulele, and stresses about using all the pears provided by the tree in her back garden. She dreams about one day being spit on by Jonathan Groff.
