I am, perhaps unsurprisingly,
smittywing on dreamwidth. There's nothing there at the moment, and there probably won't be anything there that isn't also here, but I'll let you know if that changes. I am attracted to the shiny!new! aspects since there's a lot of clutter on this journal but...I've been on LJ for...eight years? So I'm fairly comfy here. We'll see how it goes.
In the meantime: Today.
8:22 - Woke up. I am supposed to leave the house at 8, usually leave by 8:20, so there was pretty much no way not to be late. Very well.
9:20 - Flat tire. Call AAA.
9:40 - Phone dies.
10:15 - AAA shows up. Dude looks like Bobby Singer from Supernatural and is named Wayne. He puts enough air in my tire to get me down the street to Sears. Note that he does not put the donut on so I pretty much HAVE to go somewhere.
10:35-12:15 - Hang around the Sears Auto waiting room. Work on Admin Law outline, read Partnership Tax, have conversation with woman in waiting room.
12:15 - Sears dude tells me they "shouldn't" patch the tire because it's too worn and sends me to the showroom to buy new tires.
12:35 - I give up on trying to get the attention of the sales dude and ask the mechanic dude to put the donut on.
12:40 - Sales dude comes back and asks me what tires I want. I told him to put the donut on so I could go to the Nissan dealership.
12:55 - Escape Sears
1:15 - Arrive Nissan dealership. Hand over keys. Wait.
2:15 - The Nissan dealership can't find the incredibly odd-sized tires that came on my car. They have to keep it. Also I have to get two tires and an alignment. (I knew that was coming.) They give me a loaner Mazda 3. I might not give it back. I like the way it drives, but the "Nissan Loaner Car" decal on the back window is cramping my style.
PLEASE NOTE: At this point, MacGyver could have MADE me a new tire with duct tape and bubble gum. Thank you.
2:30 - Chipotle, because I have been traumatized by life.
4:00 - Get guest pass for the loaner car so it doesn't get towed from my apartment complex. (If you're observing the gap between lunch and my apartment, please know that Chipotle is at the mall. Nothing more need be said.)
4:00-4:30 - Call IRS, VA Dept. of Taxation, etc. to straighten out tax error. (Don't ask. It was stupid and entirely my fault.) Also call Sallie Mae. Am displeased. Take consumer survey and leave a 60-second message of rage afterward. Cat sits on my lap for 30 seconds and then goes back into the closet.
4:30 - Go to apartment building held by same management company to get a pass to park there tomorrow so I can walk to the metro. (This once could be done from my own apartment, but alas, no more.)
5:00 - Arrive at school; realize I do not have parking pass. Park at Giant. Pray for clemency.
5:05 - Go to bookstore to try to sell back book for class that is over. It is too early to sell back book. I must wait for the week before the semester ends. (Except the semester ends next Thursday, making THIS the week before the semester ends, so I don't even know.)
So yeah. In class now. I feel like I should ask for something, but pretty much just not being in an autoshop waiting room is making me pretty happy. Even if I am in tax law for the rest of the night. :P
