Manual Microblading (or eyebrow embroidery) 3D eyebrows is a manual method developed in Japan. It is considered to be permanent, as compared to the traditional hairstroke technique done with a machine. It is done using a very fine blade to deposit pigments into the epidermis/dermis and it´s done manually, with no electric machines or tattoo guns. Because we’re implanting color closer to the surface, the strokes appear crispy and realistic for a while. And more, they will be water proof and smudge proof.
How do I know if I am a good candidate for Manual Microblading?
Manual Microblading eyebrows is a method that is ideal for persons in their 20´s,30´s or 40´s with normal or dry skin, none to little sun damage. If you have mature skin, combination or oily skin on your forehead with enlarged pores, Digital Microblading IS the right technique for you, but we can work on your skin and give you the most natural look eyebrows, with strokes, combined with soft shading or ombre for perfect volume effect!
Please keep reading, our duty is to educate the customer in ways no other artist does. It is better to have the appropriate and right work done instead of fixing later! Remember, you have just one face.
What are Nanobrows?
Nanobrows have become a popular trend in the beauty industry as a permanent solution for achieving fuller, natural-looking eyebrows. This technique involves using a fine nano needle to create realistic hair strokes, resulting in a soft, bolder appearance.
Nanobrows are a type of permanent eyebrow enhancement that uses nano-needle cartridges technology to create fine, hair-like strokes. Unlike traditional manual microblading, which uses a blade to create cuts in the skin, nanobrows use a single-needle tattoo machine. This method allows for more precision and less trauma to the skin, resulting in a more natural and long-lasting eyebrows appearance.
What is Combo Brows?
Hybrid permanent eyebrow enhancement.
Method: Combines manual or digital microblading or nanoblading (hair strokes) with a powdered shading technique.
Outcome: Creates a natural multi-dimensional aesthetic, blending the realism of individual hair strokes with the density and depth of shading.
Application:
-
Hair strokes are typically concentrated at the front (bulb) of the brow.
-
Shading is applied from the mid-brow to the tail.
Benefits: Provides a polished, fuller look that is customized to the client’s features and personal style.
Longevity: Lasts approximately 1–3 years, with variations depending on skin type and aftercare, same as other techniques.
- Soft, powdered effect: This technique deposits pigment in a pixelated pattern, resulting in a gentle, diffused look rather than sharp, individual hair strokes. The effect is buildable, from a subtle, misty finish to a more dense, defined one.
- Ideal for a fuller brow look: It creates the illusion of perfectly filled-in, defined brows, making it suitable for those who regularly use powder makeup to enhance their eyebrows.
- Lasting results: Powder brows are a low-maintenance, long-lasting solution, with results typically enduring for one to three years before a touch up is needed.
- Suits most skin types: Unlike manual microblading, which may not be ideal for oily skin, powder brows are a versatile option for all skin types.
- Customizable: The shape, color, and density can be customized to match a client’s specific preferences and facial structure.

POST PROCEDURE CARE INSTRUCTIONS (So you can be prepared for what is coming):
DO NOT touch or pick your treated eyebrow area. DO NOT have facial treatments, including brow tinting, tweezing, electrolysis, waxing, threading, for at least 4 weeks before and after having the procedure done. Keep your eyebrow area dry and protected with the brows stick.
No Hot Yoga, heavy cardio workouts, saunas, steams baths or other heat treatments that promote sweatness. NO Tanning and avoid direct sunlight on your eyebrow area. Sun will fade the color very fast. Healing will take up to 1-2 weeks, and it is perfectly normal for your treated eyebrows to scab.
The scabs will fall off within a few days. It is also normal for the color to appear darker and reddish in the first 5-6 days, and then to fade during the two weeks following the treatment.
Smart Touch Skin Solutions will provide all the products you will need for your post procedure care journey for FREE. If an infection occur, seek medical attention.
The sides of your face are different and you may need more work on one side comparing to the other side. Few hours later it is likely that one side will be more swollen and that is perfectly normal. Yes, your brows may not look even in the first 4 days.
Do NOT panic! The technician will always take pictures to check before you leave the studio and once the swelling goes down, your brows will look like “sisters” again.
Look at our Post Procedure Care page if you still have questions about healing process.
Frequent Asked Questions
How long does Permanent Eyebrows procedure take? Whatever technique applied, eyebrows pigmentation is a 2 step process, usually 45-60 days apart. It is very important to complete both visits.
Step 1: The initial procedure takes 2-3 hours. During this time, a consultation is performed, a color tone chosen and initial outline of the procedure area is drawn on your face for you to approve. Once you are satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry, (please note that our faces are NOT symmetrical, as one side is flatter than the other – eyebrows are sisters not twins), however as Certified Brows Artists, we aim to create as much symmetry and harmony as possible. The permanent pigment is then applied with a machine.
The end result will depend on 50% pigment saturation and 50% healing process. We all heal differently, and what works on one client may not be effective on another. This is why a second visit it so important; it corrects any irregularities in color tones, and makes the look permanently perfect.
Step 2: The second stage of the treatment is called a “touch up” and takes approximately 1.5-2 hours. This is scheduled 6-8 weeks after the first treatment, as it takes that long for the pigment to settle in the skin.
It is IMPERATIVE that you complete the touch up treatment, as without it, it will be a job half done and the results will not be good as expected. The touch up gives the client an opportunity to get used to the initial finish before a final touch up consolidates the final pigment into the skin, thus preventing fading. Color will have faded significantly in the first 30 days as the skin heals, peels and close.
The look of the brows in the first 10 days will be quite undefined and no indication of the finished result. Step 3: Occasionally a third visit is necessary for certain clients, 6 weeks later again. This is not uncommon.
– Will my Permanent Eyebrows look fake?
Absolutely not! Smart Touch Skin Solutions unique eyebrow artistry guarantees soft, natural looking results even on clients with no previous eyebrows in place. When permanent makeup pigments are implanted into the skin, the permanent eyebrows can appear more natural looking than regular applied cosmetics.
– Will the procedure be painful?
Smart Touch Skin Solutions takes every precaution necessary to ensure that the application is smooth and as comfortable as possible. A physician-grade topical anesthetic is used for your comfort during the whole procedure. How long is the healing process or recovery? You do not have to hide from the world until you are healed. Many clients can walk right out the door and they feel very pleased and ready to show off their new eyebrows. Initially stronger in color, your new just pigmented Eyebrows will soften to a natural looking, beautiful color in 10-14 days.
– When will I see my final results?
A noticeable difference will be readily apparent immediately following your eyebrows procedure. Your final results will be visible after the healing process is fully completed, usually 3-5 weeks. Your brows will look 50% lighter in saturation in a very natural human shade.
– What if I do not like it?
Although Permanent Eyebrows are considered Long Term, these procedures do have flexibility in changing color and shape to some extent. Colors will appear darker immediately following the procedure but will soften and lighten during the healing process, please be patient. The healing time is different for each individual. Every pigment inserted in the skin can be removed if needed, but we do our best to avoid any traumatic experience involving color removal.
– How long can I expect Permanent Eyebrows to last?
Digital or Manual Microblading, Powder Brows, Nanobrows or Combo Brows Eyebrows is considered permanent procedure due to their nature (cosmetic tattooing) but since the pigment is applied on the very superficial level of skin they will begin to fade after 18-24 months. In order to keep your brows looking fresh, a touch up is required every 1-2 years. More frequent touch ups may be required if you chose a soft light shade of brown or blond initially, or if you did not follow your aftercare instructions.
Permanent micropigmentation is not an exact science, each client is different. Some clients even tell us that they would like to have an always fresh look and even brows, so they come for a touch up after 9-12 months. It is purely a client’s preference.
– Are there any side effects during or after Permanent Eyebrows procedure?
Eyebrows may show little effect. This is dependent upon the amount of work performed. Also, some people swell more from minor skin infractions than others. During the Permanent Eyebrows procedure there may be some minor bleeding. For those who take blood thinners on a daily basis some slight bleeding would be expected. Others show little to no signs of bleeding. Bruising is rare, again if a person is on blood thinners, bruising could occur. Before booking the appointment be sure that you can be out of blood thinners, OTC pain pills, vitamins, supplements, fish oil… for at least 7 days. Ask your doctor before booking your appointment. We always send reminders by text or email to our clients before they come, but sometimes people just forget. There is usually some tenderness for a few days. The color is much darker than you may expect for the first 5 days, right before the scabbing starts.
