Scompler AI Interview

How Scompler AI understands goals, target groups, and narratives—and how we developed them

Communication teams today are under enormous pressure: they are expected to deliver faster, communicate more consistently, and at the same time strategically manage their content. Scompler AI was developed to close this gap – by using artificial intelligence to truly link strategy, efficiency, and impact. In the Scompler AI interview, developers Erik Pauli and Ilya Semianenka share their perspective on the future of AI-powered communication and explain why Scompler AI goes far beyond text generation.

When the AI hype reached its peak, how did you decide how to integrate Scompler AI into Scompler?

Erik Pauli: "When the hype broke out, the whole market was screaming, 'Build something with AI—fast!' As a product manager, it almost made you want to cry. We stopped and asked ourselves: Do communicators really suffer from writing too slowly? Hardly. They struggle with coordination between teams, with translating strategy into implementation, and with ensuring clarity and consistency in increasingly complex communication environments. Speed without strategy only creates faster chaos.

So we decided not to build the next text generator, but rather a strategic colleague. We focused on what sets Scompler apart: our structured strategic framework. The goal quickly became clear: to develop an AI that knows why it is writing —not just how. That is how the idea was created of an AI that thinks like a strategist, designs like a pro, and supports like a colleague.

What did you learn from the first AI text generator—and how did that change the roadmap?

Ilya Semianenka: "The first AI text generator saved time, but did not deliver any strategic added value. It lacked context and did not reduce points of friction. We realized that AI without a deeper connection to strategy remains generic and interchangeable. It improves content, but not the effectiveness of communication.

This insight shifted our roadmap toward building a narrative intelligence layer—an AI that understands communication goals, target groups, and metadata and intelligently selects information for each task. Adaptability was just as important to us. We have developed an AI that adapts to your strategic maturity level and delivers actionable results at every stage – whether you are just starting out or are already a strategy pro. And we make it easy for users: you don't have to be a prompt engineer to get value from Scompler AI.

Scompler AI Interview: How the results differ from generic models

How did our customers shape Scompler AI during the beta phase? Was there any surprising feedback?

Ilya: "We wanted to avoid building a 'solution in search of a problem' at all costs. Although we had a clear vision of how AI should further develop the Scompler, we deliberately left the first steps open—and let our customers decide.
Early feedback helped us prioritize pain points that fit well with the current capabilities of the foundation models. This defined our initial roadmap milestones and created a solid foundation. The feedback also ensured that our AI results clearly differentiated themselves from generic models—with context, relevance, and details that reflect the 'spirit of Scompler' in every recommendation."

When Scompler invited us to test their AI in the beta phase, we were in the process of developing our own specialized AI agents to support our communications team as strategic partners—not just as content generators. Now, Scompler AI is embedded directly into our topic architecture and has access to all existing content and data. With its comprehensive overview and seamless integration into existing workflows, it efficiently delivers better results than other tools. We particularly appreciate the different text versions and custom styles, which help us to quickly adapt our communications."

How do you teach AI to think like a strategist and understand goals, target groups, tone, and metadata?

Erik: "You have to bring three elements together: prompt, model, and context. We call this the GenAI triangle. At Scompler, we use multiple models and targeted prompt engineering—but the real difference is our structured database. Scompler is already the single source of truth for a company's strategy: topics, personas, narrative goals, and much more.
When you ask the AI to draft a story, it doesn't invent ideas out of thin air—it draws on your strategy: your definition of "sustainability," your Gen Z persona, your goals. We embed these strategic guidelines directly into the generation process."

Our AI vision and product highlights with Alina, Erik and Ilya

"Our goal is clear: to free teams from administrative tasks so they can focus on what only humans can do—empathy, creativity, and strategic thinking. Scompler AI doesn't replace communicators; it gives them back the space to be real communicators again—instead of just content factories."

How did data protection and compliance influence your decision to use multiple LLMs—and why not just one for everything?

Ilya: "When selecting the basis for Scompler AI, we had to balance product and business requirements: vendor dependency, costs, data residency, quality assurance, latency, scalability. Security and GDPR compliance were absolute musts. It quickly became clear that no single LLM could fulfill all of these requirements. That's why we use the 'best model for the job' approach and have built an orchestration layer that selects the right model for each task."

Scompler AI understands your entire communication strategy. The AI works directly in your Scompler setup, uses your goals, topics, personas, and messages, and creates consistent content across all channels and teams.

Scompler AI's user interface understands your communication strategy and suggests suitable story ideas.

Scompler AI explains its approach and identifies strategic gaps—why and how?

01

Quality depends on input

Even with advanced LLMs, the result is only as good as the input and the strategy behind it. Fewer gaps mean better, more targeted results.

02

Trust and control are crucial

In enterprise environments, users need to understand why AI chooses a particular direction. We have therefore integrated explainability into the generation process—turning AI from a black box into a transparent partner.

03

Strategic focus

Sometimes you need a critical perspective. Scompler AI can act as a critical colleague, checking content for completeness and strategic consistency.

Scompler AI Interview: AI is part of our strategic operating system for communication

How do you ensure that Scompler AI empowers communicators rather than overwhelming them or replacing human judgment?

Erik: "Our philosophy is simple: AI makes suggestions, people make decisions.
That's why Scompler AI is used exactly where it creates real value: in editors and cards for topics, stories, and articles. And we are extending our support to areas such as editorial planning and asset selection, where AI can take on repetitive tasks.
The goal is clear: to free teams from administrative tasks so they can focus on what only humans can do—empathy, creativity, and strategic thinking. Scompler AI doesn't replace communicators; it gives them back the space to be real communicators again—instead of just content factories."

What's next for Scompler AI?
Erik: "This year's launch is already the second stage of Scompler – and we're far from finished. There are some big steps on the roadmap.

First, we are moving from assistants to true agents—AI that can take on entire workflows and coordination tasks, always with a human in the loop.
We are also expanding AI toward visual intelligence—applying the same strategic logic we use for text to images and videos.
Another focus is on the deep connection between Scompler AI and a company's "intelligence," including the ability to integrate your own enterprise LLMs directly into Scompler .

All of this supports our larger vision: to develop the strategic operating system for communication. AI is one of the pillars that helps teams orchestrate perception on a large scale.
