Dr Sarah Gordon

Co-Founder & Global CEO (PhD) 

Sarah has led Satarla since its formation in 2014. Originally a geoscientist, Sarah has honed and continues to develop her broader skills in risk management and sustainability.  Passionate about delivering on true impact, Sarah works with clients globally to support them identify their sustainability superpowers and risk-based mechanisms through which they can deliver on their full potential.  

Sarah sits on numerous Boards and Advisory panels including the Critical Minerals Expert Committee to the UK Government, and Women in Mining UK. She is also one of the primary training course designers and deliverers for the Institute of Risk Management.

Tankiso Moloi 

Co-Founder (Prof, PhD) Pretoria, South Africa 

Tankiso is a seasoned financial expert with a diverse background in both public and private sectors. As a former Chief Economist overseeing the analysis, compilation, and dissemination of financial statistics for the South African government and private sectors, his profound insights shaped strategic financial decisions. He has directed his efforts toward Enterprise Risk Management, mastering internal audit procedures, comprehensive risk assessment (spanning enterprise, portfolio, strategic & operational domains), Business Continuity Management, and a keen involvement in insurance frameworks. 

Tankiso’s proficiency extends to macroeconomic and mining market analysis, offering invaluable perspectives in navigating complex economic landscapes.  

Laura Mallabone 

Co-Founder & Regional Director (MBA) Johannesburg, South Africa 

Laura built her risk management expertise on her background of being an engineer.  Now with decades of experience working with a diverse array of clients, Laura is one of the most well-regarded risk management advisors.

Laura develops and delivers numerous training courses and workshops, many on behalf of international risk management bodies.  She also provides consulting support to clients at all levels, from the Board to the front line.  Having served on drafting committees for various international risk management standards (e.g. ISO31000), Laura’s advice is often sought for updates to risk management guidelines, standards and methodologies.

Norman Gridley

Vice President (Americas)

Norman is Satarla’s VP Americas, following a career as Environmental Engineer with an extensive track record. His expertise encompasses environmental management, risk assessment, sustainability initiatives, community engagement, and multi-stakeholder communications.

Norman excels as a project and study manager for industrial and mining ventures, showcasing a global reach and a particular focus on Latin America in recent years. 

Dr Rose Clarke

Operations Director (UK)

Rose is an experienced sustainability consultant, and oversees Satarla UK operations, particularly on sustainability projects. As a consultant, Rose thrives at the intersection of sustainability and climate change with risk management, particularly when integrated with sustainability strategy, disclosure, and reporting. She is an experienced training and workshop facilitator, regularly engaging with diverse groups around the world.

Salina Docherty

Agriculture Lead and Sustainability Strategy Expert

Salina’s diverse career has spanned international procurement, supply chains, and business transformation roles in multinationals as well as co-founding a social enterprise. This included collaborating with governments, multinational agri-businesses, and social entrepreneurs to promote sustainability across value chains.

As Satarla’s Sustainability Strategy Expert, Salina has worked in various industries, including pharma, mining, and personal care, to embed sustainability at the heart of organizational strategy. Salina’s passion is sustainable agriculture.

Dr Chris Stockey

Climate Change and Nature Lead

Chris is a sustainability consultant, leading on Satarla’s climate change and nature work, with specialisation in TCFD and TNFD recommendations, scenario analysis and modelling, value chain mapping, and emissions reporting. He regularly delivers training in climate change-, nature-, ESG-, and enterprise- risk management.

Chris also leads Satarla’s impact in Project VECTOR, an EU Horizon 2022 initiative focused on responsible and sustainable mining of critical raw materials in Europe.

Dr Matthew Grimshaw

Geologist & Innovation Consultant

Matthew is a chartered geologist and competent person, with deep experience and hands-on involvement in various international projects, with expertise spanning from Africa and the Middle East to North America. He has worked closely with junior mining and exploration companies, government surveys, and major mining corporations.

Matthew particularly enjoys driving innovation and rethinking traditional practices in geology and resource management, to create more sustainable, equitable environments.

Miranda Shirley

Training Manager

Miranda is Satarla’s Training Manager and Instructional Designer, with a dedication to learner-centered education. She has experience in developing engaging and effective training programs, specialising in crafting educational experiences that cater to diverse learning styles and needs. Her expertise lies in integrating innovative teaching methodologies, leveraging the latest in educational technology, and continuously evolving her approaches to meet the dynamic demands of the training industry.

Paige Wills

Risk Analyst and Strategist

Paige has a background in geoscience and statistics, coding, uncertainty, modelling, and quantitative risk management. In her role as Risk Analyst and Strategist, Paige has a focus on quantitative assessments, sustainability, and ESG, while utilising data analytics and AI to optimise operations, address climate reporting policies, and drive sustainable practices, presenting data in a manner which is understandable and useable.

Dr Aileen Doran

Sustainability & Raw Materials Consultant

Aileen is a sustainability and raw materials consultant, with a research background that in economic geology and geochemistry and practical experience working on climate transition plans and double materiality assessments.

Aileen is an advocate for equity and inclusion, particularly within geoscience, and is passionate about science communication, ethical research practices and responsible sourcing of metals for climate action plans.

Jocelyn Barker

Sustainability Consultant

Jocelyn is a Sustainability Consultant whose work has centred on sustainable transformation, leveraging her knowledge of the reporting landscape. ​With a Master’s degree in Earth Sciences, she has worked across both private and public sectors to produce ESG reports, assess the sustainability maturity of organisations, and develop strategies and roadmaps to achieve sustainability goals. She has a strong interest in understanding how reporting and risk can most effectively inform strategy and drive meaningful and long-term change. 

Lucy Crane

Sustainability Consultant

Lucy is a geologist and sustainability consultant with a passion for building a more responsible, transparent, and inclusive mining industry. She specialises in sustainability strategy, stakeholder engagement, and integrating ESG across all stages of the mining lifecycle with hands-on industry experience. Her work has focused on aligning critical mineral development with best practice in social & environmental stewardship, innovation, and the circular economy. Now Lucy supports organisations embed responsible practices, strengthen social acceptance, and contribute meaningfully to the energy transition. She is Managing Director of Women in Mining UK and director of the Cornwall Chamber of Mines and Minerals.

George Brown

Sustainability Consultant

George is a sustainability consultant focusing on the intersection between holistic land stewardship and natural capital markets, supporting on nature risk management and TNFD recommendations. 

George has experience across private, public and non-profit sectors, from energy reinsurance to social impact strategy in Web3. He first joined Satarla through On Purpose, a leadership programme that equips associates to drive the transformation to a more just and regenerative economy. George is passionate about applying a systems-level approach to social and environmental impact. 

Emily Lewis

Emily is a solicitor by profession, specialising in legal and regulatory risk and compliance. Emily’s experience stems from private practice, where she advised multinational clients from a variety of sectors (including mining, transport, telecoms and finance) on matters ranging from high-profile corruption investigations and prosecutions to governance risk and the re-design and implementation of corporate compliance procedures.

Ludivine Wouters 

Ludivine is a strategy, governance, and policy adviser with expertise in transaction management, regulatory affairs and government relations.

Ludivine assists natural resources companies and investors in emerging markets. She also works on technical assistance programmes for States, focusing on mining and minerals policy, governance and taxation, and assists donor agencies, policy shapers and other stakeholders in the definition and implementation of critical minerals and responsible sourcing priorities.

John Crawley

John is an accountant by profession and now runs and advises businesses in both the private and public sector.  Prior to this, John spent 23 years in various Executive positions, with the RBS group.  

John is a qualified master-trainer and delivers expert executive Risk Management Training to ISO Standard internationally through The Finance Expert.  Industries that he as worked with recently include: Real estate, Energy, Government, Local & Municipal Authorities, Waste & Recycling, Agriculture, Aviation, Hospitality, and Financial Services.

Emer McAneny

Emer is an expert in Risk and Operations Management.  She has experience in a multitude of different industries including:  Financial Management & Corporate Governance, Agriculture, Distribution, Manufacturing, Retail, Real Estate, and Public Utility sectors.  Emer currently designs Risk and Finance courses for delivery through various professional training bodies and is co-authoring a new publication on Risk Management.  Emer works with John at The Finance Expert.

Kate Boothroyd

Kate is a specialist in risk management, providing value adding support to clients in the public, private and third sectors across a variety of countries and industries. She is a firm believer in implementing effective, practical and tailored risk management at all levels in an organisation, whether corporate, project or operational.

Birgit Rameseder 

Birgit is a strategic professional with decades of experience in roles spanning across exploration, mineral resource management (MRM), project management and assurance and techno-economic analysis. Birgit’s advanced process mapping and optimisation skills, strategic and operational business management make her a recognised leader with a proven record of mentoring and developing staff. 

Sarah Morrin

Sarah is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and has a NEBOSH diploma. Having worked for the Big Four following an operations role as a Site Engineer in the mining industry, she has led outsourced and co-sourced internal audit programs and was a Board member of the IIA in Botswana. She has advised key players across the oil and gas, construction and real estate industries in various locations around the world. Her projects have included providing regulatory and contractual reviews and commercial reviews with suppliers as well as standard HSE audit and operational support work.

Sarah was based in Dubai until early 2019 during which time she undertook a wide variety of projects for PWC in the region. 

Christopher Reeves

Christopher has extensive experience of leadership across energy, resources and asset intensive sectors. Christopher has delivered sustainable growth strategies, spanning listed and private equity investment, top-tier consulting, and hands-on capital project delivery. His expertise includes enhancing corporate governance, shaping digital strategies, and implementing practical sustainability approaches across global supply chains.

Ellen Casey

Ellen is an experienced Risk Management Consultant with expertise in the natural resources sector. Ellen has been responsible for devising and implementing Enterprise Risk Management frameworks and initiatives for various clients in the mining, energy generation and transmission, and pharmaceutical industries. She is a certified risk manager, a former fellow of the geological society,  and also has her NEBOSH certificate.

Dr Kyle Bahr

Kyle is an independent consultant with an interdisciplinary background in natural resource development, engineering, and socio-political risk mitigation. He enjoys working with talented multidisciplinary and international teams and has ongoing and completed projects and partnerships on six continents.

In addition to consulting work, he performs independent and collaborative research in natural resource development, including technical and social aspects of social license measurement and controversy detection and analysis. His work reflects the full-lifecycle of sustainability, from the mining of critical minerals to the feasibility and engineering of renewable energy systems, to socio-economic risk mitigation, to product end-of-life and recycling.

Jane Walde

Jane is a qualified accountant (FCCA), having held senior finance roles including Financial Controller for Shell International Renewables. Her experience encompasses setting up financial structures for start-ups to the dark arts of derivatives. Other risk experience covers health, safety and sustainable development, credit risk, compliance, risk in commercial contracts, physical maritime operations, insurance and managing in-house training courses for the Institute of Risk Management.

Jane has strong business acumen gained in a broad range of sectors including events, publishing, business intelligence, film production, mining, bulk commodity trading, renewable energy, and quality assurance.

Aldo Pennini

Aldo is a public affairs professional with a career spanning government, global corporate, and international membership organisation. He served as Director of External Affairs in Australia at Anglo American Plc , then as Chief of Staff to two Chief Executives at the company headquarters in London, where he acquired a unique perspective on the dynamics at multinational corporation. Aldo began his career in government, serving as senior policy advisor and Chief of Staff to State Premiers and Ministers in New South Wales and Queensland (Australia) where he shaped policy and negotiated legislation ranging from natural resource management to carbon emissions trading and multicultural affairs.

Dr Yulia Cherepanova

Yulia is a geologist and mining specialist with technical, scientific research, and business development experience in international mining and oil/gas service and consulting companies. Yulia has worked as a diamond exploration geologist, in quality control, in academia, and in a prominent mining consultancy providing international business development, project appraisals, quality control and technical due diligence to clients. Yulia is knowledgeable about technical risks and pitfalls of complex mining projects, and has been involved in the organisation and provision of training and technical visits for some of the most innovative mines currently being developed.

Monica Ospina

Monica Ospina has recognised experience in the design and implementation of strategies that support operational productivity while building trusting relationships with communities. Her expertise in transforming conflict into development and human and social capital into value for investors has contributed to ensuring operational readiness, improving the perception of mining and the well being of communities. As an author, Monica created the Local Community Procurement Program (LCPP), awarded by the IFC-World Bank in 2012. She has also contributed to the IFC-World Bank’s Guide for the Early Stakeholder Engagement and participated in discussion groups for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  

Darryl Chow

Darryl is a project management and information technology professional in the EHSQ (Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality) and Risk Management space.  
With extensive experience in software implementation experience, Darryl has successfully delivered over 100+ projects working with companies from different industries around the world.

More recently Darryl co-founded Aion North, a company specializing in software implementations.  Here, he leverages his talents in project management, industry knowledge, and experience to help support organizations roll out mission critical software.

Marina Bradford

Marina is an experienced sustainability and procurement consultant, with international experience across public and private sectors across Western & Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America.  Marina’s focus is on supporting organisations with implementing sustainable operational practices, embedding resilience and managing they ESG impacts through the value chain.

Having worked with clients and organisations across a range of sectors and industries, Marina founded consultancy Bemari which has been certified as a B Corporation. Marina is qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ICAS).

Ben Pearson

Ben (MEIANZ, MAusIMM) has extensive experience in environmental management, impact assessment, pollution control, environmental toxicology, and tailings management. He has an established track record of delivering environmental and sustainability solutions for mining projects globally. Key practice areas include ESIA, ESMP, Livelihood Restoration Plans, Resettlement Action Plans, Community Development Plans, Biodiversity Offsets, Carbon Accounting and GHG emission reduction. He has worked as an independent expert examining application of Equator Principles and IFC performance Standards against resource development projects. His expertise extends across expediting project approval through legislative compliance and adoption of international best practice ESG guidelines.

Veronica Bolton Smith

Veronica is CEO of The Critical Minerals Africa Group, holding a solid background of Africa-focused trade and investment experience. She brings extensive knowledge of African trade relations and has advised African heads of state on their foreign direct investment approach to create and broaden opportunities for investment in Africa. Veronica has advised and led Africa investment strategies for several FTSE 100 companies, including De Beers, Anglo-American and Vodafone, among others. Veronica’s passion is to foster growth through trade and investment in Sub-Saharan African nations and sees no better opportunity for Africa’s economic advancement than the development of strong and sustainable critical minerals value chains. Veronica was recently recognised by the United Nations as a Top 100 Most Influential Person of African Descent in Business.

Dr Carolina Molinari

Carolina is a Communication and Sustainability Consultant, who builds on years of experience in the mining industry, working in corporate communication, social affairs, safety & sustainable development and crisis management, at corporate and operational level, mainly in Brazil, South Africa and the UK. She is an editor by profession and holds a DBA from Kingston University London with her thesis on climate change risk disclosure, an MBA and two PGDip on Strategic Comms and on Environmental Education. Carolina appreciates collaborating in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams, facilitating communication and helping building connections to foster a joint and sustainable result.

Paul Pritchard

Paul is an environmental chemist who has work has focused on the finance sector both in-house and as a consultant. Recent assignments have focused on TCFD and transition related activity including authoring an online course on scenario analysis (ICAEW) co-authoring a guide to climate-related financial risk disclosures, serving on Aviva’s external expert climate risk panel and chairing the UK Sustainable Finance Standards Committee SFS/1 (BSI). He is currently the technical lead supporting the production of a global net zero standard(ISO) for the finance sector due for completion in 2025.
A registered Principal Environmental Auditor, he has served on the Board of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and as a Fellow at CISL focusing on integrating sustainability into finance.

Ruth Allington

Ruth is an engineering geologist specialising in the whole life design of open pit mineral operations in the UK and overseas. She has an MBA, is a qualified commercial and community mediator and facilitator, and is an experienced expert witness, trainer, and mentor.

For a range of clients from governments to mineral operators and community groups, her unique combination of technical and facilitative expertise contributes to ensuring that mineral deposits are competently explored, evaluated and reported; that mineral resources with local or strategic importance are safeguarded in local and national spatial plans; and that mines and quarries are designed, operated and closed responsibly. 

Hosam Achrafi

Hosam has extensive engineering and management consulting experience, compounded by two secondments as the risk Lead for mining and metals operations in Australia.  Prior to moving to Australia, Hosam worked with PwC’s consulting practice for the Energy and Utilities sectors, based in the UAE.  Here he utilised his risk management, operational excellence, change management, project management, and physical asset lifecycle management skills to help international businesses to deliver their strategic and operational initiatives across their own departments and functions.  Prior to working for PwC, Hosam worked as a Field Automation Engineer for Honeywell Process Solutions.

Karen Chovan

Karen is the Founder of Enviro Integration Strategies, focused on creating value, reducing environmental risks and eliminating various forms of waste through strategic, systems-based and life-cycle evaluations. Her career has included working in tailings and mine waste management, project management and strategic planning, sustainability advisement and organizational change. Karen is the Chair for the CIM Environmental and Social Responsibility Society (ESRS), where she aims to raise awareness and facilitate the uptake of more holistic and sustainable practices across industry. 

Martin Geiser

Martin has experience in mining, commercial and industrial sectors, with a highly established technical ability and expansive knowledge in the fields of high voltage systems/reticulation and protection analysis, arc fault evaluation, and electrical system design.

Martin has a strong foundation of workplace risk assessment and safety implementation during his professional tenure in senior engineering management including accreditations in Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas, board membership of the Australian Standards for Electrical protection for mines/quarries and compliance coordinator for electrical engineering.

Mark Turner

Mark started his career in the Royal Navy in 1989, Mark has held a variety of roles within the defence and aerospace sector including submarine weapons engineer, project planner, R&D Project Manager, Head of Internal Audit, and Vice President of Risk Management.  In recent years Mark has developed ERM Frameworks and designed Risk Management software. Mark is now the Managing Director of Emsity Ltd, a risk management software and training consultancy supporting several clients with software design and development projects.

Mark is also a qualified Life Coach. In this role he provides professional guidance, mentoring and external accountability to executives looking to enhance their careers.

Peter Swail

Peter is a Chartered Accountant with international experience and a background in internal audit and risk management. Having worked in retail, agriculture and member service companies, he has spent the last number of years gaining experience and qualifications in sustainability to pursue his passion. His expertise in data analysis, governance, and project management has been instrumental in delivering measurable improvements in environmental and social performance. Recent work has included CDP, EcoVadis, SDG & CSRD reports, while helping an agriculture company integrate ESG into the heart of their operations. Delivered the procurement and implementation of ESG software for GHG calculation and reporting.

Martina Smyth

Martina is an Enterprise Risk and Opportunity Manager within defence and aerospace. A Qualified Risk Professional (CFIRM), she has completed ESG Risk Management Certificate and MSc Risk, Crisis and Resilience Management. She has experience within security, global manufacturing, finance, risk, insurance, fraud detection and prevention. She has worked in the private and public sectors.
Experienced with the implementation of computer systems, internal controls, standard operating procedures, managing risk registers and facilitating risk working groups.

She has excellent organisation, communication, collaborative problem solving, planning, decision making, business awareness and risk assessment skills.

Carolina Sánchez

Carolina is a Senior Consultant Engineer specializing in environmental sustainability, assisting investors, international funding agencies, and government entities in cleaner production, circular economy, waste management, and environmental impact analysis. She has extensive experience in the public sector managing renewable and non-renewable natural resources. As a member of Argentina’s energy leaders community, she has garnered significant expertise across South America. Additionally, She has a strong academic background in scientific research, holding a doctorate in public health, where she contributed to assessing the environmental burden of disease. 

Suchitra Narayanan

Suchitra started her career training and qualifying as a chartered accountant and subsequently specialised in risk management. Suchitra’s key strength has been in helping companies design and implement risk frameworks as well as structing risk transfer mechanisms. She has, in a Chief Risk Officer capacity, successfully worked with senior stakeholders and Boards to define and instill risk management in a multitude of organisations. Suchitra regularly provides risk management thought leadership at conferences across Asia Pacific, and is a Board member of PARIMA (Pan Asian Risk & Insurance Management Association

Mark Boult

Mark is a highly experienced risk management consultant, and has supported clients with their risk management and assurance activities from board level to their front line operations.

Mark has worked with a wide range of organisations globally in a broad cross section of industries’ including; oil and gas, petrochemicals and chemicals, government agencies, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare, maritime, rail, aviation, utilities, the entertainments industry and charities. Additionally, Mark is a member of the UK Standards committees for Risk Management and Governance inputting to the ISO31000 and ISO37000 families of international standards.

Annie Clark

Annie is a Learning and Development specialist who has extensive experience in designing and delivering training across the charity, public, and private sectors.  

Prior to founding and running Annie’s Training Company, Annie undertook roles including: Head of Learning and Development at the Institute of Fundraising, and Talent Development Manager for the Children’s Society.  Annie is superb not only when she is training, but when she is working with individuals and teams to build awareness, confidence and personal effectiveness.

Edward Creegan

Edward has followed dual career paths, training and safety management and rollout, and has years of experience from North and Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Caribbean under his belt. In addition to his OHS qualifications he is a qualified and experienced NEBOSH IGC and high risk-work trainer and facilitator. Having worked as a trainer, consultant and manager in the construction, commissioning, EPCM, and mining sectors in Francophone Africa he has a deep appreciation of the challenges that companies face as they strive to maintain sustainable operations in difficult environments. He has a particular interest in workforce safety and welfare in remote, challenging and culturally diverse environments.

Casilda Malagon

Casilda is a  sustainability leader with a proven record in ESG strategy, digital transformation, and AI-driven decision-making. She has held key roles at Anglo American, the World Bank, and ICMM, shaping corporate sustainability frameworks and responsible business practices across industries.
She co-founded Archetypical, a creative learning company, and now leads Cambianz Sustainable Solutions, where she advises organizations on sustainability reporting, data-driven ESG strategies, and AI-powered solutions—helping businesses measure, disclose, and optimize their impact. Rowan Thorne

Rowan is an experienced and enthusiastic geologist. He has experience working in different environments ranging from West Africa to the Lesser Caucaus Mountains in Armenia and throughout Europe. Specialising in planning and operating greenfield exploration projects, Rowan has progressed and developed exploration projects to diamond drill stages and provided detailed reporting on subsequent results for companies such as Mineral Exploration Network Ltd., Kinross Gold Corp. and Origin Exploration Ltd. He is always keen to expand his knowledge base with the aim of applying this knowledge to his professional activities in order to support the exploration industry in implementing sustainable ESG principles. 

Angelene Wright

Angelene has extensive experience in environmental and natural resource management, policy, planning, compliance and monitoring, soil and water science, ecological research and geospatial science. Angelene has worked across exploration, production, and processing sectors, on large collaborative research projects and on policy and planning projects for the Queensland Department of Natural Resources & Mines on the Reef Water Quality Protection Plan. Angelene also brings expertise in geospatial science and geographic information systems.

Stephen Kennedy

Corporate development professional with decades of international experience in growing natural resources companies through acquisitions and complex multi-disciplined projects.  

Worked on numerous large M&A, IPO and privatisation transactions in multiple jurisdictions globally. Stephen has had roles including Independent Technical Adviser / Lender’s Engineer for project finance, structured trade and commodity trade finance, and export credit agency finance for projects in Australasia, Africa, China, Europe, Middle East, Russia and South America.

Dr Priscilla Nelson

Dr. Priscilla Nelson is Professor and Department Head of Mining Engineering Emerita at Colorado School of Mines, founder of the Tailings Center, and a Fellow at the Payne Institute. A globally recognized leader in tailings management, underground construction, and mining policy, she has delivered keynote lectures for the International Tunnelling Association and Paste 2025. Named a Geo-Legend and one of the “100 Inspirational Women in Mining,” she advances sustainable mining through research on mineral recovery, tailings safety, and underground infrastructure. Her service on Independent Technical Review Boards and policy forums underscores her influence across academic, technical, and industry domains.

Zak Wood

Zak is Director at DBK Advisory, a specialist firm assisting medium-large organisations to clearly define their whole-value proposition and set strategies that look beyond financial profit as a measure of success. Zak’s expertise in systemic risk, corporate projects, and complex systems supports work on several broad initiatives seeking to expand the concept of corporate value. He works with faith and mining in South Africa, establishing the next vision of the mining industry, unpacking structural challenges and find pro-active solutions to ensure a stable and sustainable future, both for the mining companies and broader society. 

Zoë Kennaugh

Zoë is a social and environment sustainability advisor helping companies and investors / lenders successfully execute projects and their operations, through identifying, avoiding, minimising, and managing their risks and impacts. She has an extensive range of experience in corporate and non-profit organisations of all size, in director, leadership and operational roles. She has years of practical experience living and working in Africa, across sectors including finance, mining, energy, agriculture, tourism and conservation.  She is conscientious, adaptable, and determined, with a track record of mentoring and capacity building, fundraising, strategy development and pragmatic problem solving.

Raymond Philippe

Raymond is an internationally recognized specialist on water management in the mining industry with decades experience in strategic, commercial, and technical water resource management & water infrastructure related projects. He holds a M.Sc. in Raw Materials Processing and has fulfilled postgraduate education in environmental engineering, sustainability, finance and innovation. His leadership practice includes work with top tier engineering and consulting companies, advisory to investors and project developers, as well as water related start-ups.

Mark Alcock

Mark is a risk management specialist to large capital projects and operating companies, in the mining, rail, defence, power and nuclear industries.

His specialties include designing and implementing risk management systems and integrating them into other business processes; supporting managers in understanding their risk “picture”; and identifying Root Causes and Responses to maximise Risk Exposure reduction.

Danny Wong

Danny is an ERM practitioner and risk thought leader with 20 years of industry experience. Danny has a proven track record of implementing risk management frameworks, managing major project risks and extensive experience facilitating senior management and board level training/risk management workshops. He has demonstrated a consistent ability to deliver value and affect culture change through risk management in numerous FTSE350, multi-national and public-sector organisations.

Michelle Hohn

Michelle a sustainability/ESG strategist and social performance specialist with decades of experience in the Canadian finance and international mining sectors. She is a subject matter expert in corporate governance, stakeholder and rights holder engagement, human rights risk assessment and due diligence, and she has a personal passion for workplace wellness: the assessment of psychosocial workplace hazards and psychological H&S. Michelle is an Accredited Provider of TSM Verification Services.

Eric Gagnon

Eric has experience both as manager and consultant in Canada and French-speaking Africa, Eric has been supporting complex industrial projects and institutions in ESG risk management, social dialogue, land access, sustainable community investments, impact mitigation and governance.

Being a highly mobile on-the-ground practitioner, Eric favors intensive kaizen interventions on operations sites, involving international standards & guidelines and combining full-range Lean + Sigma-6 techniques.

John Boyle

John, a Chartered Mechanical Engineer has spent his entire career involved in delivering major capital investment projects around the world. He has worked in many industrial sectors including glassmaking, nuclear decommissioning, metals, mining and infrastructure. John has extensive experience in a variety of roles as a project manager, project controls manager and specialises as a project risk manager/consultant. 

John enables clients to make project investment decisions ranging from the smaller sustaining capital projects through to multi-billion dollar investments. John has honed his skills in the use of qualitative and quantitative techniques.

Silvana Centty

Silvana is a sustainability leader and has advised global corporations on climate and nature strategies, decarbonisation, regulatory compliance and communications. Silvana has experience in driving impactful sustainability initiatives, shaping Net Zero roadmaps, and delivering high-profile projects across consumer goods, financial services, mining, and telecom sectors. 

During her career as consultant at Baringa, she led client engagements and supported clients to integrate sustainability into business strategies and net zero goals. Prior to that, Silvana led the Carbon Trust product footprint, certification and labelling commercial proposition. 

She is passionate about leveraging data-driven insights and strategic communications to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon and nature-positive economy while enhancing business resilience and delivering lasting environmental impact.

Johannes Drielsma

Johannes has ten years of site work as an environmental engineer with major global mining and automotive companies and – since 2005 – has been providing expert advice to international government organisations, associations, alliances, and partnerships in the areas of critical raw material supply, environmental standards, life cycle assessment, and environmental management of mining and smelter sites. Johannes uses Systemic Consensing (SK-Prinzip©) facilitation, mediation and process design techniques to help groups make difficult decisions under time pressure. Johannes brings an open and committed leadership style, building trust through visibly recognising shared achievement of common goals.

Benedikt Steiner

Benedikt is a chartered geologist with experience in the international resource industry, and a published expert in mineral exploration geochemistry and exploration targeting.  He is credited with the discovery of a new mineral system in the Vosges Mountains, France.  Also, he has experience operating in challenging remote environments, e.g. Central Africa, Burma, and speaks several languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Russian and Afrikaans).

James Watt

Jim is a well seasoned underground mining engineer with many years of international operating and planning experience in Africa, Latin America, Canada, the USA, the Caribbean, and, Europe. Jim lives on Vancouver Island and worked as a consultant doing operational and safety audits, mine improvement studies, mentoring, and, interim management roles.  He is a team builder with a knack for getting staff and workers on board concerning safety.  Jim speaks fluent English and Spanish.

Dr Nic Bilham

Nic is a researcher at the University of Exeter, where he is working on responsible sourcing of minerals, the relationship between mining and the circular economy, and the challenge of assuring environmental and social impact standards across complex value chains and production-consumption networks.  Until 2018, he worked at the Geological Society of London for over 20 years, most recently as Director of Policy and Communications. He has a longstanding interest in interdisciplinary approaches to global societal challenges relating to meeting our resource needs sustainably, and in the roles geoscientists play in addressing these challenges.  

Hennie Klopper

Hennie is a qualified Mechanical Engineer and is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Engineer.  He has extensive experience in the railway and mining industries, as well as high-end engineering software.  Hennie has used his engineering capabilities in a wide range of fields including: failure analysis, fatality investigations, metal fatigue, pyrolysis in tyres, and data analysis.  His expertise is specifically applicable when understanding risk associated with critical machinery and the structural life expectancy of those machines.

Jamie Young

Jamie has a proven track record in implementing world class HSE, Risk & Sustainability programs in Oil & Gas, Mining and Shipping. He led Risk Management for BP Global Operations, resulting in 70% reduction in major incidents over 5 years. Purpose driven resulting from life threatening lived site experiences, co-led the strategic response to DWH driving simple pragmatic operational management system and effective risk program from Site to Executive. Jamie is Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership (CISL) qualified, was BP performance management LT member and Anglo American SHE Team leader.
