Digital Learning Centres

Thousands of Afghan youth are displaced in neighbouring regions and lack viable access to educational opportunities. To best support these youth in their studies, Right to Learn works with local partners to recruit eligible students and deliver high quality secondary education to students in Turkey, Pakistan, and the region.

We provide students with access to our Darakht-e Danesh Classroom online high school, and this borderless education allows the students to pursue a high school diploma, even in times of uncertainty.

For displaced students in Turkey, we offer a physical Digital Learning Centre: a classroom-like space where students gather to attend live, online classes five days per week via Darakht-e Danesh Classroom online high school. A facilitator is on site to assist the students and offer supplementary learning.

Providing Education to Displaced Afghans

Students without refugee status that would otherwise have no access to education are able to complete essential requirements for a high school education, earning an accredited international high school diploma upon completion of Grade 12.

The DLC in Turkey has been established in a safe location that is accessible to the Afghan community in Turkey. The centre offers a computer lab, internet connection, and community library space for whole family learning.

“Three years ago, an event left many of us disheartened, leading us to seek refuge far from home. Yet, this school and institution gave us renewed hope and opened a path to progress and success amid despair.

This centre has been like a fresh start and a new hope for us.

“Most of the children are working in shops or doing street work such as polishing shoes and selling groceries. They work for five to six hours per day. They were sharp and very brave to speak about their lives and how they suffer from lack of education.”
