Shared worm-bonanza
yesterday – they were up high:
must be coffee grounds!
fed some just-found worms
into three new compost bins –
gift them coffee grounds?
I need some more worms
to dance in my compost piles:
know a night-crawler?
time to plant okra,
wild garlic and wild onions
and spread the compost.
sleep warm, gentle worm
I give you my peels and pits
and you return dirt!
wet winter brings forth
worms eager for some compost
in which to warm up
old, fat, and cold-slowed –
living a languid dirt life:
not me! nightcrawler!
falling factories
leave rorschach blots on the ground:
naked limbs reprove.
I will gather these sad leaves
and have happy spring compost!
beer, book, radio
shovel, rake, hoe and trowel:
collards, kales, lettuce,
leeks, onions, radish, snow peas,
kohlrabi, broccoli rabe!
Hello, Old Worm.
Have some tres peels for supper
as I change your dirt!
