For RevPi base modules having a WLAN interface, a WLAN connection can be set up using the NetworkManager nmtui.

nmtui is a terminal-based user interface for managing network connections under Linux.

Prerequisites #

✓ RevPi base module with WLAN interface

✓ DHCP-capable WLAN router

✓ The WLAN interface is activated via Cockpit[1].

Starting nmtui #

▷ Log in to the RevPi via a terminal.

▷ Start nmtui with the command

sudo nmtui

❯ The nmtui user interface opens.

You can navigate within nmtui using the arrow keys and the ENTER key.

Setting up WLAN Connection #

▷ Select Edit a connection.

▷ Select <Add>.

▷ Select the connection type Wi-Fi and confirm with <Create>.

▷ Enter the network name at SSID and select the appropriate security mode at Security .

❯ The Password field opens.

▷ Enter the WLAN password at Password .

▷ Save the settings with < OK> and return to the home screen with <Back>.

▷ Select Activate a connection.

▷ Select the WLAN network (Wi-Fi) and activate the connection with the ENTER button.

❯ The WLAN connection is established.

Enabling Wi-Fi Connection #

If a Wi-Fi connection has already been set up but is not currently active, you can reactivate it.

▷ Select Activate a connection.

▷ Select the WLAN network (Wi-Fi) and activate the connection with the ENTER button.

❯ The status message Connecting …​ opens.

▷ In the Cockpit menu, select Network to check the connection.
