It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.
RIP Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh (top) RIP Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase (middle) RIP Asher Brown and Billy Lucas. (bottom)
REBLOG to spread a message of love, unity and peace.
Hrmm... there aren't actually any questions about 11 or 13. Oh well. Funny, though; the reason I dislike both of those pairs is that the guys are so bland and boring. I'm not opposed to het-pairings as a rule. I'm a big fan of Castle/Beckett, Allison/Carter, several BSG and Whedonverse pairings, etc. But those two guys are just... meh. No spark, no wit, no humor, no edge. Yawn.
1. Where are you camping? B05, VDK, also known as Lucanistan (Look for the green and white pinwheel-looking thingie)
2. When are you arriving? Saturday, July 31st
3. What cool stuff are you doing? The 3 F's: Fighting, feasting and fermenting. I say only 3 F's, because there will be no fleeing. (And we wouldn't want to jinx a 5th F by saying it definitely will happen, now would we?)
I used 44 longer (non-meme, non-survey) samples from my LJ, including 4 short fanfics.
15 came back as Stephen King, 8 as Kurt Vonnegut, 8 as Chuck Palahniuk, 4 as Dan Brown (ugh), 2 as Bram Stoker, and tied for 6th place with 1 a piece were Margaret Atwood, Raymond Chandler, James Fenimore Cooper, Harry Harrison, Edgar Allan Poe, William Shakespeare, and PG Wodehouse.
Although I wasn't paying attention the first time it read an entry as Bram Stoker, I suspect that the second time was only because I actually mentioned Stoker in the post and was talking about vampires.
I leave it to you, gentle readers, to say whether any of this is accurate, as I have only read 4 of these authors, and King is not one of them. (I'll let you guess which 4)
I implore you, if you have any small piece of affection for the TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender, DO NOT go see the live-action movie. Trust me. Go to YouTube, rewatch the trailer, and allow that hope for the movie to remain unquashed.
On a broader note, if you have any taste at all, and like to watch movies that are actually good, regardless of your familiarity with the source material, DO NOT go see The Last Airbender. Its failures in relation to canon are as nothing compared to its failures as a film in general. It sucks. It is a bad movie. It is the opposite of good.
Here are the things that are not good:
The acting The dialogue The casting (physically) The casting (talent-wise) What remained of the story from the source material The pacing The flashbacks The fight scenes (I'm not sure how one makes a huge battle between two armies wielding fire and water through elemental sorcery dull, but they managed it) The bending The bending effects (once you've seen them once) The exposition (content-wise) The exposition (the sheer amount of it) Faithfulness to source material (I'm not talking stuff like "Hey, where is Tom Bombadil?", I'm talking stuff like "they're pronouncing the main fucking character's name wrong!")
And I'm sure I'm forgetting things.
This movie is an insult to the television show. If I ever see M. Night Shyamalan, I will punch him in the face. Never in my life have I wanted so badly for a sequel to not be made, if any of the people associated in this project are involved.
I invite you to review my list and let me know if I've left any key eps out, or if you disagree with my assessment of an ep's slashiness. Since it has been quite a few months since I rewatched the whole series, I would not be at all surprised if I've left an episode out or forgotten a key scene.
To be fair, a lot of this cracked me up, and a lot of it was true. And a lot of it made me *facepalm* and think "Oh Gods, I can't believe this is where I'm from"/"Oh Gods, I'm embarrassed I understand that joke".
For those of you who couldn't quite catch everything... ( LyricsCollapse )
Well this just looks neat. Kinda Lost World/Steampunk-y. Although, being in French, I can't understand a friggin' thing they're saying. But it looks neat.
Of course I'll give you LJ lovins. Welcome to the weirdness. Sorry for the recent dearth of posts, but I've been sans computer for months and just got it back Sunday.
