What would be your ideal scenario for couple three?

Most of the fics I've read seem to consider Quinn moving in with Rachel and her dads to be a key step.

Which is your favorite moment for couple one?

I honestly can't remember. It's mostly a lot of little moments where I go "ah, interaction" and squee a little. But I haven't finished watching the series yet, so something may come up later.

How long have you been following couple six?

Just this year. It's a new show. I tried resisting it, but all of my friends were losing their minds over the subtext, and there was so much fic, I had to check it out.

What's the story with eight?

The story is literally this. I don't usually read crossovers, and I never would have thought to pair these two together, but it was inspectorboxer, so of course I had to check it out, and of course I got hooked.

You have the power to make one ship nonexistent. Choose between ten or twelve.

Well the writers pretty much took care of ten for me, but even if they hadn't I'd still pick 12. And not just because I adore Jane and Maura together, but because the chemistry between Jane and Bella's Dad is just awful, and actually painful to watch.

Which ship do you prefer, two or four?

Brittana vs. Otalia? That's evil. On the one hand we have a hinted at relationship, on the other an actual relationship. But then again, we have a potential future relationship vs. a cancelled show. And it's true that all the good things about both these pairs are happening in fanfic right now. I adore Brittana, but I think I'm gonna have to go with Otalia, simply because we actually saw it happen and it was pretty damn epic. The cheerleaders can get back to me once they've spent a year dancing around their feelings for each other and being tortured by angst.

How do you feel about seven?

I was actually just talking about them the other day, though I don't recall to whom. Sarah/Cameron is the only pairing I can think of that I ship hardcore without having any canon or subtext to draw from. I would say 90% of my 'ships have at least one scene where I noticed something and went "aha!". I honestly did not see anything to indicate this would be remotely possible. It is all based on fanfic. I was curious to see if it could be done, so I checked one out, and really got into it. Cameron is a very tricky character to maneuver into even a physical relationship, let alone figuring out how to give her emotions. I very much enjoy when the author does it well. It's like setting the game on Expert; sure you can write a great Xena/Gabrielle plot, but can you get a cyborg to evolve feelings authentically?

Does your affection for nine affect your love of the show?

A bit, in a positive way. I really dug the show during the first season, mainly for the awesomeness that is Claudia, and the wicked chemistry Pete and Myka have as partners. HG coming in and being all sex-on-legs and subtexty was just icing. And her being confirmed as canonically bisexual was the cherry on top.

What's a song that reminds you of five?

"Dreams" by Gabrielle. There's a really neat fanvid done for the show, and that's the song they used. Every time I hear it now I think of the Nikki & Nora vid.

Have two kissed yet?

Not on screen. They've slept together, but we only heard about it after the fact. It may have even been pre-show. *crosses fingers for onscreen smoochings*

Did four have a happy ending? If the show hasn't ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely?

Yes. When last we saw them they were happily raising two children together, and the third had just returned home from Iraq.

If only one could happen, which would you prefer, two or six?

Oy, again with the evil. Brittana or Rizzles... Ya know, I think for the sheer head-exploding value of it, I've gotta go with Jane/Maura. Yeah, the plots of the show suck out loud, but can you just imagine watching Sasha Alexander and Angie Harmon be actually gay instead of just madly homoerotic? I mean, they're, like, 70% of the way there already.

You have the power to decide the fate of ten. What happens to them?

Meh, send Old Spice back to his own time. He may be all rich and world-travelly now, but he could always come back to town and spoke Carter's wheel again. I want him safely back in 194-whatever where he belongs.

Which was your original OTP?

If we wanna get really early about it, probably Kermit/Ms. Piggy. But if we're talking a more grown-up notion of togetherness, I believe my first 'ship was Mulder/Scully.

Hrmm... there aren't actually any questions about 11 or 13. Oh well. Funny, though; the reason I dislike both of those pairs is that the guys are so bland and boring. I'm not opposed to het-pairings as a rule. I'm a big fan of Castle/Beckett, Allison/Carter, several BSG and Whedonverse pairings, etc. But those two guys are just... meh. No spark, no wit, no humor, no edge. Yawn.

Although I wasn't paying attention the first time it read an entry as Bram Stoker, I suspect that the second time was only because I actually mentioned Stoker in the post and was talking about vampires.

I implore you, if you have any small piece of affection for the TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender, DO NOT go see the live-action movie. Trust me. Go to YouTube, rewatch the trailer, and allow that hope for the movie to remain unquashed.

On a broader note, if you have any taste at all, and like to watch movies that are actually good, regardless of your familiarity with the source material, DO NOT go see The Last Airbender. Its failures in relation to canon are as nothing compared to its failures as a film in general. It sucks. It is a bad movie. It is the opposite of good.

Here are the things that are not good:

The acting
The dialogue
The casting (physically)
The casting (talent-wise)
What remained of the story from the source material
The pacing
The flashbacks
The fight scenes (I'm not sure how one makes a huge battle between two armies wielding fire and water through elemental sorcery dull, but they managed it)
The bending
The bending effects (once you've seen them once)
The exposition (content-wise)
The exposition (the sheer amount of it)
Faithfulness to source material (I'm not talking stuff like "Hey, where is Tom Bombadil?", I'm talking stuff like "they're pronouncing the main fucking character's name wrong!")

And I'm sure I'm forgetting things.

This movie is an insult to the television show. If I ever see M. Night Shyamalan, I will punch him in the face. Never in my life have I wanted so badly for a sequel to not be made, if any of the people associated in this project are involved.

Since it aired in... oh Gods, 1997. 13 years? Seriously? Ugh. I watched all 7 seasons, and have sporadically watched on DVD since it went off the air. So yeah, 13 years.

Someone said "new Joss Whedon show" and I was there.

08. Who's your favorite actor in 4?
Think I'm gonna have to go with Laura Harris. I've followed her through a couple shows and I really like her work. Don't know enough about Aubrey Dollar, and Angie Harmon... gorgeous as she may be, her political views make me wanna duct tape her mouth shut.

09. Which do you prefer: Show 1, 2 or 5?
Farscape. The quality of the show, the acting and the writing is spectacular. I just plain love it more than Buffy, and Xena is very uneven in places.

10. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
Assuming I eventually got to shag the hot brunette cop, Cindy. Even with the whole getting shot thing, as long as I was apparently as unharmed as her, and got to have Lindsay in return, absolutely Cindy.

11. How would you kill off your favorite character in 1?
What a horrible question. Faith would die doing something infinitely badass while saving the world, as is fitting for a Slayer.

12. Give a random quote from 1?
"It's stupid! It's mortal and stupid! And, and Xander's crying and not talking, and, and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well Joyce will never have any more fruit punch, ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why." (Sorry, my brain kept supplying all these horribly depressing quotes and wouldn't let up. Not kidding, everything coming up was either the musical, The Body, or the 3 final episodes of season 6. I'm such a masochist.)

13. Would a 3/4 crossover work?
Not so much, no, what with one being a Space Western and the other a cop show set in present day San Francisco. You could do 1/4, or 2/3. I can even wrangle a 4/5 in my head if I twist it around right, but 3/4 does not work.

14. Pair two characters in 1 that would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple?
Isn't that the premise of a majority of relationships in Buffy? I mean, Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Spike, Xander/Cordelia, Xander/Anya... OK, hell with it, Buffy/Faith. Yeah, I said it! Neither one can have "normal" s.o.'s, they understand the demands of a Slayer's life, they'd have a whole Chosen Two thing going on. Faith would get Buffy to loosen up and Buffy could help Faith stay on the straight and narrow (so to speak).

15. Has 5 inspired you in any way?
Absolutely. Strong female role models growing up, Zoe Bell made me wanna be a stunt actor, and the subtext was essential in the development of my gayness.

16. Overall, which show has a better cast, 2 or 4?
Gonna have to go with Farscape again. Ben Browder and Claudia Black are amazing dramatic and comedic actors with amazing onscreen chemistry, Anthony Simcoe is a fucking comic genius, Virginia Hey is just a lovely person inside and out, Gigi Edgley has fantastic physicality and humor, Wayne Pygram plays an amazing villain, Johnathan Hardy has more acting awards than you can shake a stick at, and not to mention all of the Muppet performers that make the aliens work.

17. Which has better theme music, 3 or 5?
I think they all have great theme music except WMC, although that's not really a fair comparison, because WMC's is, like, 6 seconds long. I like Xena's better than Firefly though. I'd go Farscape, Xena, Buffy, Firefly, WMC in order of preference.

OK, so Sherlock Holmes was... I don't wanna say "crap". Well, yeah, I kinda do. I spent most of the movie rolling my eyes. But the best parts, the parts that worked, were when RDJ and Jude Law were just kicking around being Holmes and Watson. Let's face it, Holmes and Watson are old school slashy, so it's kinda fun to see that updated.

Every so often my job is a little strange.

Last night I'm sitting at the reception desk, minding my own business, watching a downloaded TV show. Suddenly I hear a thump. A small thump. Like something falling. Or landing, rather, after falling. So I take a look-see around, because it sounded close, and on the counter at eye-level, not three feet away, is a mouse.

Yes, a mouse.

I jumped a bit because, holy fuck, mouse outta nowhere! And I'm sure I did a very cartoonish "look at the mouse, look up at the second floor walkway, look at the mouse, look back up at the second floor walkway, look back down at the mouse" thing. And I was feeling sad and a little grossed out because this cute little mouse either had a horrible misadventure and slipped, was cruelly defenestrated by another mouse, or just tried to commit mousey suicide, squeaking "Goodbye cruel world" as he hurled himself into the foyer, and now I had dead mouse to clean up.

But as I watched, the mouse spoked the wheels of 'Twas the Night Before Xmas and began stirring, blinking his little eyes groggily. And just as I'm thinking "Boy, mouse, you got knocked the fuck out" and giggling that this mouse nearly pancaked itself on my desk, it occurs to me that since it's alive I need to, ya know, catch it. Looking around for a Suitable Mouse-Catching Tool™, I decide upon a co-worker's large plastic cup, as it is sturdy and, more importantly, tall enough to prevent escape. After a few minutes of mouse-wrangling I manage to shepherd (mouseherd?) the little fellow into the cup with the assistance of the secretary's name plaque (shhhh, don't tell her). Huzzah, one mouse successfully caught.

...ummm, now what?

Well, I'm not gonna kill it. I mean, the thing just survived an 8-foot drop onto a marble counter (yes that is a drywall-dust outline of where the mouse went "whoomp!"). I don't know what the human equivalent is, but damn, it's a lot! Besides, I'm pretty sure an injustice of that magnitude would earn me the wrath of Vercingetorix for sure. I wondered if maybe he could survive outdoors, but he was definitely not a full grown mouse, and mousechild abandonment is just mean. Although I did bring the cup outside and laid it down in case he wanted to make a break for it. Poor little thing stuck one paw in the snow, and then curled up in the back of the cup as far from the stuff as possible. I didn't see any convenient mouseholes, nor indeed anywhere in the building that it would a good idea to release him. Cuz, ya know, it's a laboratory, and I think my employers would frown upon my encouragement of free-range mousedom. I briefly (very briefly) entertained the idea of taking him home and keeping him as a pet, but that was just a bad idea of many levels. Eventually I came to the conclusion that the best course open to me was to set him loose in the dumpster out back, which was out of the wind and had plenty of lovely garbage to eat and burrow into.

*sigh*

Seriously, I debated this mouse's fate for almost an hour. I had visions of frantic mouse mothers wondering where their offspring had gone to; poor young mice separated from their families through misfortune...

Yeah, it's horribly unbutch, but fuck you. The day I kill adorable mice is the day I will sell back every Brian Jacques and CS Lewis book I own, as well as any Don Bluth, Disney or Pixar movie that has a rodent in it.

Although it did occur to me after I'd let him go that I have no idea if he was a wild mouse that snuck in, or the offspring of wild mice who'd nested in the building, or if he was an escaped lab mouse. I'm hoping he was a wild mouse. If he had science experiments done on him, and suddenly he mutates and we're overrun with 50-foot mice rampaging through town a la Night of the Lepus, umm... my bad.

Too true.

Not as much randomness as the other day. Just two work-related blurbs.

-I am well pleased with the warm weather. Means no snow from the sky, lessening snow on the ground, and less coldness in the air (what with warm being the opposite of cold and all). However, this warmer weather leads to the insidious proliferation of my most hated form of outdoor critter: the jogger. Oh yes. No longer content to stay inside with their treadmills and various other ~~torture~~ exercise devices, they swarm onto the roadways from their winter hiding places like agitated piranha in a dammed up Amazonian river. *shakes fist angrily* Now these people are crazy anyways. Seriously, I've seen them on my way to work. Please recall that I drive to work near midnight. Who the fuck runs at midnight in the middle of winter? I'll tell you who: CRAZY PEOPLE! Joggers are crazy people. I need some sort of jogger-specific flea collar for the facilities. An anti-jogger forcefield at the entrance. I imagine sitting in my chair with a security camera pointed at it, cackling like Vincent Price as joggers bounce off my forcefield like bugs on a bugzapper. "MWA-hahahahaha! That'll learn 'em to ignore the 'No Trespassing' sign"

OK, that went on a bit longer than I expected it do. I kinda just wanted to say "I like the warm, but now the joggers are back. Damn joggers!", and, well... you saw what happened. I blame the joggers. *shakes fist angrily*

-Second bit of randomness: The building I work in is full of scientific strangeness. Lots of machines whose function I don't understand, tubes and filters and pumps and stuff. Although there's a disappointing dearth of Erlenmeyer flasks. Not that I have a use for them, but I so rarely have an opportunity to use the term "Erlenmeyer flask", and it does amuse me so. Heh. Erlenmeyer.

But one bit of scientific paraphernalia (another excellent word) that I am not confused by is a giant tank of liquid nitrogen. And I am becoming disturbed by my sporadic desire to play with aforementioned liquid. Like, I wanna stick a pencil in, then drop it on the ground and watch it shatter into tiny bits. Stuff like that. And I have to remind myself that the liquid nitrogen isn't a playtoy, and that bad things happen to people who fool around with it. Then scenes from GoldenEye and The X-Files play in my head, and I sulk off to finish my rounds and leave the liquid nitrogen unmolested.

Today was a day of glee.

Upon my return to Chez Geek I was greeted by Twinkmaster Flash who had the brilliant suggestion of bagels. A brief trip to our local bagel emporium was followed by a viewing of the Star Trek: TOS episode "The Enterprise Incident", in which Kirk freaked me out more than normal and Spock was a silky smooth mack daddy playa. An important errand in Brockton (the home of the "hard rigid chair of mental health"), was accompanied by singing along to the 25th Anniversary Muppet CD at the top of our lungs, complete with voices. The return trip was set to the John Denver Muppet Christmas Special album. We paused on our sojourn home to procure comestibles, namely peanut butter fudge and scrimps. Plus we had booze already waiting for us. With food and booze in hand, we sat down to enjoy The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Between Brian Jacques' Martin, and C.S. Lewis' Reepicheep, I am totally getting a mouse on my SCA device if the heralds let me.

Bagels, booze, geekery and scrimps. A most excellent day.
