Turns out it’s been a very long time since I last felt like blogging about anything. I think I’m ready to come back. I have a lot of books, authors, and series that I want to shout about. And a small backlist of books I agreed to review but then haven’t. So I’ll be back soon to shout all about those fabulous things!

Book Review: Where The Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire

Published January 4th 2022 by Tordotcom
I have a confession to make on this one. I… didn’t… like… it. It was enjoyable and I did like learning more about the other school; however, it really felt like the middle book of a trilogy that imparted important plot information but didn’t do much else. It didn’t feel as complete as the rest of the series but more like a setup short story.

Continue readingBlog Tour: Forest of Souls by Lori M. Lee Review – Post Thirty Seven of Stay Home Order
After posting so frequently in May for Wyrd & Wonder, I found myself focusing more on reading and less on blog posts in general this month. So I’m very happy to participate in the spontaneous surprise blog tour honoring Lori M. Lee‘s newest release, Forest of Souls! The blog tour was put together by Hear Our Voices Book Tours, and this is their first one. I’m excited to see what they can pull together in the future!

Lori M. Lee is the author of FOREST OF SOULS, first in the Shamanborn series, as well as GATES OF THREAD AND STONE and THE INFINITE. She’s also a contributor to the anthologies A THOUSAND BEGINNINGS AND ENDINGS and COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES. She considers herself a unicorn aficionado, enjoys marathoning TV shows, and loves to write about magic, manipulation, and family.
New Releases October 2019
Once again, we have a month jam-packed with so many amazing SFF releases across the ages! I’ve already had a chance to read a few of these, so you can find my reviews of Smarter Than a Monster up now and Master of the Phantom Isle should go live very soon! I’m working on The Never Tilting World right now for review and have a review copy of The Library of the Unwritten to read next! Hopefully, I’ll be able to squeeze one or two more into my reading schedule this month as well 🙂
Are you excited about @nickydrayden’s #EscapingExodus? + Giveaway!
Well, you should be! As part of the street team, I was lucky enough to receive some wonderful swag!

This art is absolutely gorgeous! I love the patterning, color choices, and the composition! @Seageart has done a magnificent job! Also, I have extras of the two character art cards, so I’ll randomly pick two commenters on this post to receive their very own character art cards! And don’t forget to put Escaping Exodus on your wishlist as an October release!!
Throwback Thursday: The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman

I’m pretty upset with myself for not starting this series sooner! I’ve been collecting this series since its US release, but kept setting it aside for other reads. In spite of hearing fantastic things! I honestly could not tell you why I wasn’t as interested in picking this one up to read until recently. Perhaps the cover wasn’t eye-catching enough? Unknown! But it’s all good now as I listened to this book as an audio and loved it!
This book creates an intense pace, delightful characters, deep-seated secrets, and an investment to learn more about the world and the characters’ backstories. If you like thrillers, steampunk, libraries, secrets, things to get a little creepy, or the battle between order and chaos, you should have already been reading this series a long time ago!
So far, it looks like five titles have been released with a six scheduled for a December/January book birthday and a seventh that has been announced. I know the first four books are sitting on my shelf, and I’ve just bumped them up much higher on my TBR. Plus, I gave book one to a friend, so I’m sure she’ll want book two very soon 🙂
Have you read this series yet? Want to yell at me for just now jumping on this train? Go for it in the comments below!

Summary:
Collecting books can be a dangerous prospect in this fun, time-traveling, fantasy adventure from a spectacular debut author.
One thing any Librarian will tell you: the truth is much stranger than fiction…
Irene is a professional spy for the mysterious Library, a shadowy organization that collects important works of fiction from all of the different realities. Most recently, she and her enigmatic assistant Kai have been sent to an alternative London. Their mission: Retrieve a particularly dangerous book. The problem: By the time they arrive, it’s already been stolen.
London’s underground factions are prepared to fight to the death to find the tome before Irene and Kai do, a problem compounded by the fact that this world is chaos-infested—the laws of nature bent to allow supernatural creatures and unpredictable magic to run rampant. To make matters worse, Kai is hiding something—secrets that could be just as volatile as the chaos-filled world itself.
Now Irene is caught in a puzzling web of deadly danger, conflicting clues, and sinister secret societies. And failure is not an option—because it isn’t just Irene’s reputation at stake, it’s the nature of reality itself…
All the Book Mail from January! (It’s Quite a Bit)
It’s been awhile since my last book haul post, and I’ve gathered several fun new titles for my personal library. I’m just so excited to read them! Do you see any here that are on your TBR?

This is my Book Outlet purchase from the Boxing Day sale. I used this opportunity to pick up several new manga, an isekai light novel, an art book, the newest Invisible Library volume, and a paperback copy of Godsgrave (so I can keep my hardcover in good condition).
