Program Information
Our Track Record:
Many students at Dillard Elementary enter kindergarten lacking reading readiness and foundational reading skills. Students express that they are rarely read to at home and have never visited a library or bookstore. Dillard Elementary works to fill the literacy gap by providing high-quality literacy instruction and exposure.
Ranger Good Works collects and purchases more than 800 books every year to support the Literacy Program. Because of this effort, parent participation rates in our literacy program have grown from 8% to more than 78%.
Dillard Elementary proudly maintains a high participation rate each year as students and families look forward to our annual event.
Current Programs:
Ranger Good Works hosts an annual literacy night every October. Literacy night is a school and family initiative for all students from prekindergarten through fifth grade. This literacy initiative is specially designed to foster literacy independence in young children, and to bridge the literacy deficit gap from school to home by giving each child their first book to begin a personalized home library.
