MT-1 Essential Peripheral Seminar

Recommended as the first orthopedic manual therapy course in the MAPS Certification series, and an ideal introduction to the evidence-based Maitland-Australian approach. MT-1 is a two-day course in which participants learn skills to more effectively assess and treat upper and lower limbs affected by neuro-musculoskeletal disorders.

MT-2: Essential Spinal Seminar
Open to ATs*, COTAs, DCs, OTs, PTs, PTAs*

MT-2 may be taken as the first or second course in the MAPS Certification series. A great introduction to the Maitland-Australian approach to manual therapy for assessing and treating neuro-musculoskeletal disorders of the spine. This two-day physical therapy seminar provides clinicians with a systematic clinical reasoning framework and dozens of evidence-based hands-on manual therapy skills designed to treat patients more efficiently and improve patient outcomes.
MT-FMC: Motor Control Strategies to Maximize Rehabilitation and Function

An instructor-led critical evaluation of the functional anatomy and the corresponding philosophies of spinal and peripheral stabilization and motor control strategies to maximize function. The focus is on the patient evaluation and choosing the most effective and efficient specific, exercise regime to ensure graduated and specific muscle facilitation, retraining, strengthening, and endurance. This two day laboratory is 90% Direct Contact Hours.
MT-O: Evidence-Based Orthopedic Diagnostic Evaluation Seminar

Learn more effective orthopedic assessment using evidence-based medicine to boost differential diagnosis skills through screening, special tests by region, and diagnosis in this intensive hands-on laboratory using the Maitland Approach to manual therapy.

MT-G: Manual Therapy in Older Adults Seminar

This 90% hands-on seminar addresses common diagnoses among the geriatric population, and the vital role of manual therapy intervention in treatment. Evidence-based best practices are explained in relation to conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, degenerative disc dysfunction, and others.
MT-M: Spinal and Peripheral Manipulation
Open to PTs, MDs, DCs, and DOs.

This manual therapy course examines three different approaches to thrust manipulation of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine (Maitland, Cyriax, and UK Osteopathic). Students learn, compare, and practice all three assessment and treatment approaches. This course will emphasize safety, including indications, contraindications, precautions, and the VBI protocol.
MT-SIJ: Sacroiliac Joint & Pelvis Seminar
Open to PTs, MDs, DCs, DOs, PTAs, and ATs

This two-day physical therapy seminar is an introduction to assessment and treatment of the SIJ and Pelvis. MT-SIJ emphasizes “best evidence” and differential assessment of the lumbar spine, hip, SIJ, and pelvis in an 90% laboratory setting.

MT-1 Skills Check Lab

Lab practice/skills check laboratory for those who have taken the remote live version of MT-1, or those who wish to refresh their peripheral manual therapy skills learned in the live, in-person MT-1. Required for those who wish to advance or sit for the COMT Exams.

Participants will apply the assessment skills and treatment techniques learned in the MT-1 manual therapy course in a two-day, 100% hands-on laboratory to refine their manual skills through directly supervised feedback from an expert instructor.

MT-2 Skills Check Lab
Open to ATs, COTAs, DCs, PTs, PTAs
Pre-Requisites: MT-2 Remote Live or MT-2

Lab practice/skills check laboratory Required for those who have taken the Remote-Live version of MT-2 or wish to refresh their spinal manual therapy skills learned in the live, in-person MT-2. Required for those who wish to advance and/or sit for the COMT Exams.

Participants will apply the assessment skills and treatment techniques learned in the MT-2 manual therapy course in a two-day, 100% hands-on laboratory to refine their manual skills through directly supervised feedback from an expert instructor.

MT-UC: Upper Cervical Dysfunction Seminar
Open to PTs, PTAs, ATs, OTs, or COTAs
MT-2 is a required prerequisite

Learn advanced skills to recognize and treat upper cervical conditions and dysfunctions, including cervicogenic headaches and dizziness, concussions, vertigo, and TMD disorders during this two-day manual therapy course.
MT-3: Intermediate Spinal Seminar
Open to PTs and DCs
MT-2 is a required prerequisite.

This seminar builds upon the skills and knowledge gained in MT-2. Participants refine their examination and treatment skills of the spine and are introduced to thrust manipulation. Emphasis is given to applying and selecting techniques, special tests, and treatment progression using the Maitland-Australian Method to differentiate cervical, thoracic, and lumbar conditions of the Spine.
MT-4: Differential Assessment & Clinical Reasoning Seminar
Open to PTs and DCs
MT-1, MT-2, and MT-3 are required prerequisites

Participants in the MT-4 seminar integrate the clinical reasoning techniques introduced in previous physical therapy seminars (MT-1, MT-2, and MT-3), and combine them with more advanced applied techniques to better target treatments through differentiation of pathologies in the spine and upper and lower limbs.
MT-MC: Master Class
PTs, DCs, MDs, and DOs only
MT-1, MT-2, and MT-3 are required prerequisites. PTs who are current FAAOMPTs are also qualified to join.

Designed for PTs, MDs, and DOs with a strong foundation in the Maitland-Australian approach to managing neuromusculoskeletal spinal and peripheral conditions. Learn new skills and refine those you already know using the Maitland-Australian approach. Taught by the most experienced MAPS senior teaching faculty.
MT-R: MAPS Review Seminar
Open to PTs, DCs, MDs, DOs

20.0 CE Hrs = 2.0 CEUs

This laboratory allows participants to review skills and competencies learned in MT-1, MT-2, MT-3, MT-FMC, MT-O, and MT-4 in a 90% hands-on intensive. Recommended (but not required) for those preparing to sit the COMT Exams.

This online manual therapy course is equivalent to the full MT-2: Essential Spinal Seminar when combined with the MT-2 Skills Check Lab.
