Leadership & Literacy Summit

Who: You! This is an open invitation to all “friends of Niteo” – volunteers, supporters, and those who desire to learn more about Uganda and Niteo’s 20 year legacy of literacy work in Uganda.

What: Connect with Ugandan literacy leaders from across the country through reciprocal learning & cultural exchange. You will participate in Niteo’s 20th anniversary Leadership & Literacy 2 Day Summit and Children’s Outreach event in Jinja, Uganda, visit a selection of Niteo partner libraries, and experience the hospitality, culture, and beauty of Uganda. There will be many opportunities to share meals and have meaningful conversations directly with Niteo partners who are leaders in the field of education, publishing, community development, and literacy outreach. The 14 day trip includes safari package options.

When: 9 or 14 day options available. January 17 – 30, 2027 

Where: Jinja, Kampala, and Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda

Cost: $3,000 ($500 charitable donation receipt will be provided)

What’s Included: Accommodations, transport, meals, trip coordination, and excursion and outreach activities.

Not Included: Not included: flight, visa, travel insurance, vaccinations, spending money, safari package.

Travel Requirements: Completed application and adherence to Niteo values and travel guidelines. Passport. Yellow Fever Vaccine & malaria prescription. 

Key Dates: 

January – June 2026: Information meetings  & application submissions

June 2026: 50% deposit required. 

August – October 2026: Orientation meetings

November 2026: Remaining 50% of trip payment paid
