Portlethen & District Community Allotment Association shared their journey from an idea to a successful and engaging community space.

Ruthrieston Community Centre in Holburn Street transformed its 150-year-old building into a modern space for everyone. By partnering with NESCAN Hub, the centre bridged the gap between local neighbourhoods and upgrading its historic facilities. I recently attended the Convention of Community Councils for the North East of Scotland in Stonehaven Town Hall. What hit me was that the room was full — not just with people, but with frustration, exhaustion and, above all, a deep sense of being ignored.

This blog was planned to be the next in NESCAN Hub’s ‘In Conversation With’ series. But after spending three days in Edinburgh alongside Satya S. Tripathi, Secretary-General of the Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet (GASP), it became clear that “conversation” doesn’t quite capture it.

The North East Scotland Biodiversity Partnership (NESBiP) Developers Hub is designed to help developers and ecologists protect and enhance biodiversity from the very start of a project. Created through collaboration between the region’s three local authorities, the Hub offers valuable resources and guidance on key habitats and species across North East Scotland.
