How it started
Following COP26, the Scottish Government pledged to deliver a strategic, regional approach to climate action by supporting a network of Regional Climate Action Hubs.
NESCAN Hub was established in 2021 as one of the first two hubs—alongside the Highlands and Islands Climate Hub. Since then, the network has grown to include 24 regional hubs across Scotland, each led by local experts and rooted in community organisations and cross-sector partnerships, including councils, health boards, and education providers.
Together, we provide place-based support that empowers communities to lead on climate action. We offer training, seed funding, collaboration opportunities, and a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices.
Like the other hubs, NESCAN focuses on innovation, resilience, and inclusivity as we work with communities to take meaningful action toward Scotland’s net-zero goals. Find out more about the Climate Action Hub network here.
Who is NESCAN?
The North East Scotland Climate Action Network (NESCAN) is a regional network of local people, community led organisations, and non-profits that are or want to act to reduce and adapt to climate change in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Who is NESCAN Hub?
NESCAN Hub is a registered Scottish charity No.SC053435, regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). We are the regional community climate action hub covering Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, providing a variety of services to support community led climate action and enable NESCAN members and local communities to be part of determining and delivering on a just transition in North East Scotland.
