NAPS2 is a completely free and open-source software that lets you use your scanner to easily convert any document to PDF format. The software supports wide variety of devices, including most scanners from Canon, Brother, HP, Epson, Fujitsu and many other brands.

Quick setup and custom profiles

When you first launch NAPS2, you can create a user profile to save time on future scans. This profile takes less than two minutes to set up and stores your preferred settings, such as resolution (DPI), page size, or the type of driver you want to use. The app supports both WIA and TWAIN drivers, with WIA being the most common choice for most compatible scanners.

Easily organize and edit your scans

Once the scanning is complete, the PDF preview lets you make quick adjustments before saving. You can rearrange pages simply by dragging them, rotate any that are misaligned, or crop unwanted areas. These tools allow you to finalize your document without the need for additional software.

Text recognition with multilingual support

NAPS2 includes OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities, enabling you to extract and index text from scanned documents. With support for dozens of languages, you can search for any word in the PDF in seconds. Adding this feature increases the file size by only about 5–10 MB, making it highly practical for regular use.
