Developing Stronger Students
The Adelante Program at the Lawrence YMCA helps high-achieving 8th grade students improve their educational opportunities by guiding them through the process of applying to top private and public high schools. Adelante students commit their time, energy, and effort to develop into stronger students. When accepted to the high school of their choice, most are awarded financial assistance from the school. However, most families still face a significant gap in what they can afford, and what they are asked to pay. The Adelante Scholarships help close this gap so the students can continue to achieve academic success throughout their high school journey and beyond.
In addition to academic support, program participants also engage in activities aimed at familiarizing themselves with their roots as citizens of the Merrimack Valley, and empowering them to become change makers in their communities. Adelante Applications
Each year, Adelante welcomes a new cohort of rising 8th grade scholars. Students currently in 7th grade may apply between January and March. All interested students participate in an application and interview process, and spaces are limited to ensure a high-quality, supportive experience for every scholar.
Support Our Scholars
The Adelante Scholarship Fund provides educational support and scholarship assistance to students attending tuition-based high schools. With your support, we will ensure that more of these students have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the YMCA.
