Our mission is to inspire an appreciation for the beauty and value of native plants and a commitment to protect the habitats that sustain them.
Giving Societies at Mt. Cuba Center

Mt. Cuba’s nationally accredited trillium collection is the inspiration for our leadership giving society, for donors of $3,000 or more annually (echoing trillium’s 3-petaled flowers and 3 leafy bracts). Donors at this level are recognized as crucial partners in Mt. Cuba’s mission, enabling us to devote more resources to our core activities, expanding their scope and our reach.
Trillium Society members are invited to insider experiences to more fully engage with our conservation and research work, and are offered complimentary member benefits as described below. All Trillium Society members are invited to a leadership donor reception held at Mt. Cuba every fall (starting Fall 2027). Contributions are fully tax deductible.
Donors of $3,000+ annually
- Donors are invited to join experts at Mt. Cuba for special experiences each year, which will always include a guided walk through the trillium collection at the height of the bloom season in the spring, along with other experiences on a rotating basis – such as a guided walk to view Mt. Cuba’s showy orchis (also known as showy orchid) hidden away in our natural lands – the largest wild population of this terrestrial orchid in the state.
- Donors are invited to join an annual special virtual presentation and roundtable with senior staff, exploring a Mt. Cuba initiative in depth.
Donors of $10,000+ annually
- As a further benefit at this level, donors will be listed as supporters in the upcoming year’s Trial Garden Research Report, which is widely distributed throughout the US in print and online. Please note, this recognition is extended to non-corporate donors only.
- Names will also be listed in our speakers’ presentations when sharing Trial Garden results with a national audience.
Donors of $25,000+ annually
- Additionally, donors at the highest levels of annual support will be invited to attend a private dinner with the Executive Director every year.
- These donors may also schedule a private tour of the grounds with senior staff once a year. At least three days’ notice is kindly requested. If your interest has seasonal limitations, please provide further notice so that we can communicate best viewing times in advance.
All Trillium Society members also enjoy unlimited general admission for up to six people per visit, free guided tours, the member rate for classes, events, and retail items, and invitations to member events.

The Canopy Society honors those who include Mt. Cuba in their estate plans, creating a lasting legacy that rises above and sustains all that grows beneath it. Like a forest canopy, their planned gifts provide enduring shelter, strength, and support for generations to come.
Many types of planned gifts are easy to make and have no impact on assets during your lifetime, including bequests in your will, or naming Mt. Cuba Center as one of the beneficiaries of a 401(k), IRA, or life insurance policy.
If you have already included Mt. Cuba in your estate plans, or wish to explore your options for doing so, please reach out to Anne-Marie McMahon, Director of Philanthropy, by email or at 302.660.0551 ext. 312.
