Awakening by Cole Bonino Oil & Acrylic Paintings On display in the Huron Mountain Club Gallery from February – March
This body of work reflects the artist’s late twenties, exploring personal and spiritual growth through nature, dreams, and emotional experience. Color and texture draw from lived moments and the subconscious.
Inspired by universal archetypes and natural patterns, the works explore themes of transformation, duality, and renewal. Traveled landscapes blend with symbolic and dream imagery, including meditative visions, the spirit of an American bison, and reflections on influential women. Ape skulls recur as a quiet reminder of mortality and shared humanity, inviting reflection on interconnectedness and our relationship with the living world.
Cole is a local artist, musician, and farmer based in Marquette, raised in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, and inspired by nature, alternative living, and Eastern philosophy.
